Adam Gase is set to get a new job. Fuck me there is some serious incompetence at GM and ownership level. Funny how certain coaches and players can keep getting work and yet a winning QB like CK can't merit a spot. It is definitely not what you know it's who you know that counts

Worst fucking owners in the league. Thought things might be going a bit better with Woody over in London but they go and do this!

Goes right back to Belicheck resigning because he didn't want to work with Johnson too, so not like it's anything new.

Wasn't there a rumour the job was going to Mike McCarthy? He'd do well to give that one a miss

Mccarthy supposedly was telling other teams he was only interested in the jets. I don't think there was anything coming out of the jets that they wanted Mccarthy. Although supposedly Maccaganan and Johnson are demanding quite a lot of power which Mccarthy and Matt Rhule both refused. So possibly Gase was the last man standing.

Rhule and a promising OC was probably my first choice, followed by Monken, then Mccarthy then Gase.

I know it's the college game but Clemson are hammering Alabama 44-16 in the national title game. That is a pumping

Good result. Happy with that, Alabama are a seriously good programme, but easy to get annoyed by 😀

Also, the Clemson coach had adopted a heap of all black influences, so that's pretty cool too. Dabo Sweeny met sir Graham and didn't know who he was apparently!

I don't think Gase is that bad of a hire. The Dolphins are a mess of an organisation and he didn't do too badly there considering he had pretty much nothing to work with at QB. Now he has Darnold.

But they're the Jets. At least he'll be used to working in a dumpster fire

Ownership issues aside he'll have Darnold and Adams, $100 million cap space, decent draft capital including #3 and only one poor contract (Johnson). It's a good spot to drop into.

  • I enjoyed the games today.

Mahomes and the Chiefs are just fun to watch. Happy for Chiefs fans to get a home win and get to host the AFC title game next week. Their much maligned defense looked good playing with a lead too.

Always good to see the Cowboys lose. Goff didnt look nearly as good as Mahomes but was able to hold his nerve with the Rams running game on fire. Cowboys hyped running game meanwhile was shut down.

Both games were decided at the line of scrimmage. Still important in the playoffs even with the modern day rules.

  • Seems to be revenge of the top seeds this week. I wonder if everyone forgot just how good the Chiefs and Rams were, given all the buzz was around the Cowboys and Colts coming in. And now the Pats trounce the Chargers, was 38-7 at one point.

Eagles are looking to buck the trend - picked of Brees on the first possession of the game and now score from a Nick Foles long ball. This game could be a beauty.

  • That AFC title game next week is going to be an absolute beauty

  • Yeah next week is going to be great, regardless of who wins out of Saints/Eagles.

At this stage it's looking like the Eagles, who are dominating. The Saints seem desperate to air it out on offense, which is ridiculous considering they have Kamara and Ingram in the team.

Eagles are just working their way down again and the Saints don't look like they are able to stop them.

  • Saints get up by six. Quite a turnaround from the first quarter - Brees stepped up on multiple occasions and the Saints D kept the Eagles scoreless in the second half.

Rams vs Saints and Chiefs vs Pats next week, with all four results well in play.

Top four teams this year in the championship games. All of them capable of winning the big dance. Feels like the first time in a while we haven't had a plucky underdog putting together a great post season run.

  • I'm very happy to see Patriots on the road. Arrowhead is going to be rocking. I think I saw somewhere that Patriots have not won a road playoff game in over a decade.

Have they had a road play off game in the last decade?

Not when you are gifted your division

They've lost their last 3 away playoff games. All 3 were AFC Championship Games. All 3 to Peyton Manning too. '06 AFC Title game @ Indy, '13 AFC Title game @ Denver, 16 AFC Title game @ Denver.

In the 3 year gap since the Patriots didn't make the AFC Championship game, the Jets made 2 of those games.
And then there was the year Brady got injured.

People could argue that the Colts should've been gifted their division.
Broncos would've been gifted their division if they had a good QB.

A lot of teams go through cycles, but it's weird that the Patriots make it this far consistently, even with weakish teams. They beat up a Chargers team that is loaded with Pro-Bowlers. I'm still amazed the Patriots won.

  • I'd love to see a Pats vs Saints Superbowl. In that case my leave request stays in and I go to a function. If the Pats lose this week it gets cancelled. The Patriots have been my team for as long as I can remember, while I have tremendous respect for the city and people of New Orleans and what they've been through since Katrina. New Orleans is just this beautifully turgid, almost larger than life mash-up of cultures soaked for a couple of hundred years in amazing music, food and booze and I loved the joint.

Wait what? The Broncos would have been gifted their division with a decent QB despite being in a division with the Chiefs (who have a QB who everyone assumes will be the league MVP) and the Chargers who you say yourself are loaded with Pro-Bowlers?

My comment was in response to the Pats gifted their division in the last decade.
    Not just this year.
