I was going to say Ray Nu'u, but then I heard that he's with the Highlanders as injury cover for Thomas Umaga-Jensen. He's probably better than the guy he's covering for.

With so many players leaving overseas, it has become obvious the number of omissions would be low.

Thought it would be an interesting exercise to look at putting together a team of players that missed the cut for NZ super rugby teams and maybe discuss who’s the unlucky 2 or 3
Here’s a few names to get the ball rolling

    Mason Emerson
    AJ Lam
    Tima Faiangaanuku
    Lincoln McClutchie
    Geoff Cridge
    Alex Ainley
    Sam Caird
    Mitch Jacobson
    Slade McDowall
    Adrian Choat
    Marco Fapuleai
    Leni ApisI
    Keane Kereru Symes

Adrian Choat is not an omission as he is heading overseas (or is he heading overseas because he was overlooked ?).
Alex Ainley is now very old.
Tima Fainganuuku was just average in the Mitre 10 Cup.
Mitch Jacobson is too light for SR.
Sam Caird has to put on weight (as did Selby-Rickitt last year).

@cgrant I think we a suggesting Jacobson as an openside. Sione Havilli is the only Kiwi openside listed on Wiki as heavier than him. ( and we all know Wiki is never wrong🧐)

@Dice before this year I’d say I’d beg to differ Umaga-Jensen was carving up for Wellington, though this year due to lack of playing time he sadly hasn’t hit the form he has...rumour has it Wellington havnt offered him a contract renewals so he’s off to Otago.

I think those guys are a couple of the most disappointing players compared to the early fern hype from recent memory. Obviously behind Gibson and Hodgman by a long way but still.

Surprised that McLutchie didn't get snapped up.
Likewise Jordan Trainor and Mitch Jacobson
Think all 3 would be useful additions to any franchise. Have to wait on injuries I guess.🤒

IIRC the hype about both Umaga-Jensens was really only from one poster (who blew copious amounts of smoke up their arses). Plenty of others were saying 'thanks for the heads up but lets wait and see how they go playing adults'.
Still young though. Plenty of time if they are patient and work hard.
