150 years today since the first game of rugby in NZ was played (as everyone who pays even minor attention knows - we invented NZ rugby in Nelson 🙂 ).

    Good work Charles Monro.

A lot has changed over the past 150 years since Nelson Rugby Football Club took the field against Nelson College on 14 May 1870. Find out how the game’s rules have changed; how it is played now and how the game embraces inclusiveness and different formats for players with different needs.

i particularly like the way he wrote in to the original rules "if we ever merge with those bastards next door, and form a soulless plastic franchise, then we will never, ever be able to get our hands on the Shield"

    Smart man Charles

@mariner4life I'm more on board with the guy who wrote in the margin, "You're pissed again, Charles. What fucking Shield? "

@Chris-B yet it was a 'town' football club that won the game FFS!

2-0 though, couldnt even get the scoring right back then!

@taniwharugby I wonder how recognisable that game would be if played today?
