All Blacks Form XV

Rugby Pass's attempt, still thinking about mine, has Laumape been that good? honest question, havent seen many canes games
who's captain?
-
@Kiwiwomble hard to argue with too much except the bench make up
-
@mariner4life id probably like a specialist lock on the bench , PPP?
-
@Kiwiwomble Laumape was playing the house down before injury struck. Definitely the form 12 in the comp.
-
I still think Whitelock looks more like his 2019 self than the player from 2011-2018. Perhaps a reflection of our lack of depth at lock.
-
@Bovidae so, the question is, being three years from the next WC....do we sacrifice the experience now to build some experience in someone new for down the track?

it's not like someone is bashing down the door and Sam is holding him back.
Not that it really matters this year, but i reckon Sam holds his spot for a bit of experience at least until BBBR comes back (assuming he comes back).
-
@mariner4life has he been head a shoulders above the some of the younger guys though?
-
I can't see Whitelock lasting until 2023, but he can still play a valuable role over the next 2 years. He's played a hell of a lot of rugby in the last decade.
Tuipulotu needs to be given as much gametime as possible as he should be the one constant over this 4-year cycle. The AB coaches also need to identify the next tier of locks and develop them alongside the incumbents. I'm sure they know who they want for each specific role at lock.

i made that comment last year. With Sam it's not the age, it's the miles on the clock. Huge amount of code, and test rugby pretty much since the start. Great player though, so i hope he gets to exit on his own terms.

Whether you guys like it or not, as soon as he's fit again, Scott Barrett will be in the mix as ABs lock, too.

I like it.

good squaddie. Not really good enough to be first choice.

Agreed, and not a flankers arsehole.
-
Cane at 7. Will Jordan ahead of Reece. Aumua marginally ahead of Ash Dixon.
Then I agree with their form XV.

yet.
Like his brother though, could step up further (like not copping red cards, for instance)
-
@nzzp ...i mean...he's 26 with 4 years in the AB's and 30+ caps...if he hasn't stepped up yet....

Huh - older than I thought.
He's also been up against BBBR and SW - one of the great locking combos. Like Ofa, could have a breakout season. Coachs like him, I'm sure he'll step up if he's capable of it
-
Come on though, who would say no to having Whitelock (in current form) as our bench lock at the rwc?
Something which I've been wondering lately too...is Frizzel still seen as possible lock cover?
-
Hmmm, does he like the tight work ? I'm not sure of this. He always stands on the wing for the Highlanders, far from the rucks and mauls.

He should go on record saying he doesn’t. Worked for Vaea Fifita.

you might be thinking of someone else...Frizzell is always in amoungst the tight stuff, he's often first choice for a hit up and defends one off the ruck, hence being second on the comp tackle stats
-
This gives me Kaino at lock vs Ireland flashbacks.

If he wasn't meant to the coaches would drop him

Yeah like KW says, you've got it wrong here... maybe looking at previous years play. He's hit a shitload of breakdowns and even has his fair share of turnovers. I think one ruck in the weekend he hit bloody four times!
-
Sam cane hasn’t even been that bad, his team has. Dillon Hunt? 😂
-
Well at least they got a third of the starting XV right

Terrific No.6 and great cover for lock in an injury situation - def not a starter at 4 or 5.

Which is the inverse of S Barrett. Quality starting lock and useful cover at 6 (some forget he filled that role very effectively several times before his ill-fated promotion to starting at 6).
The Barrett at 6 thing reminds me of Blair Larsen who was also a slightly undersized lock but just a little too clunky to play a full game at 6.

Thats what ive always felt, when at 6 he looks like a lock covering 6....

-
Super Rugby's "offical" SRA team of the tournament ....Smith being absent kind of stands out
-
@Kiwiwomble ALB??? maybe up until March....
-
@Kiwiwomble Boshier and ALB? Is there a Chiefs quota?

affirmative action y'all!
-
@Kiwiwomble These teams of the week/season are based on stats only.
-
@Stargazer id love to know what stats

generally, attacking ones. Locks get picked for linebreaks and shit.
-
Explains Jordan over Jordie and Perenara over Smith too.
-
