Anyone out there want to play?
-
As I figure no other bastard will bother, I put in some VERY cursory research,
added to my low level of rugby knowledge,
to come up with this list,
which I'm sure will be ripped to shreds for all sorts of people playing out of position, and what-not.
But, in advance...FYA.1 Mark/Bull Allen
2 Andrew Hore
3 Gordon Slater
4 Ian Eliason
5 Paul Tito
6 Alastair Scown
7 Graham Mourie
8 Peter Burke
9 Dave Loveridge
10 Beauden Barrett
11 Waisake Naholo
12 Bryce Robins
13 Charlie Ngatai
14 Gus Hart
15 Kieran Crowley16 Mick Cain
17 Ash Gardiner
18 John McEldowney
19 Alistair Scown
20 Colin Cooper
21 Kevin Briscoe
22 Seta Tamanivalu
23 Jordie BarrettI threw Jordie in there, as I figure Canterbury isn't going to want him anyways.
-
Jarad Hoeata?
-
@Kruse could argue for Charlie Ngatai aswell for Wellington. also go could you forget Lilley
-
Did Jazz Muller make it through until the start of the NPC in 1976? If so he would be a starter in a province that seemed to have a production line of props there for a while. He certainly played later the Messrs Burke and Briscoe mentioned in Kruse's team.
-
Burke and Muller are before the NPC.
Jason Eaton as a possibility at lock.
-
Yeah - there's a fair few players there from pre-NPC... I just threw the list together without reading any of the evolving rules (or even, the actual 'competition' title)... as I figured nobody else would be bothered with the poor 'Naki.
So - feel free to correct, update, improve. -
Another attempt...

@Bones Thanks mate I was trying to think of the loosie that played 7 for Canes early 2000s and it was Masoe.
-
Keith Robinson might be required if they draw Manawatu.
Plenty would pay to see Robinson v Cowboy Shaw in a dust up. -
Looking at those other players you would probably select Masoe or Andy Slater over Hoeata at no.8.

@Bones The old man played Cowboy Shaw in an Ranfurly shield match when he was playing for Horowhenua my old man picked him up and dumped him over the sideline, Cowboy said after the game, I’m impressed a tiny winger could do that, it’s the highlight of my dads career

I would have told that story a thousand times if that was me!

Surprisingly no love for John McEldowney here.
-
@Hooroo he has he’s told a lot of people down the local rugby club.
