Any swede eaters willing to have a go?
-
@Crucial I think they've found this too hard. I'll have a go:
McKechnie
Wilson
Saunders
Lynn
Kawau
Culhane
Cowan
Miller
Henderson
Dixon
?
?
?
Rutledge
MacKintosh -
Bekhuis sp?
Did Chris King play for them? -
Dermody as the other prop.
Frank Oliver for lock. Pokere played for Southland too.
-
Well done, that fills the lock and TH prop spots, while Pokere would oust Matt Saunders. Surely there is a better centre than Kendrick Lynn, too.
-

Maybe a combo of Mark Seymour/Kawau?
-
I think if a guy can't represent two teams, then surely the swede-munchers lose Oliver to Manawatu and need another lock. Who were the locks during the RS tenure a few years back? Beckhuis and....?
-
Steve Jackson was there a short time

Other way around isn't it? He was Southland first then the Poo. Also more games for Southland?

Rules have been adjusted to 'first province (at first class level).
Stags have first dibs on Oliver
-
So to start things off:
15 McKechnie
14 Wilson
13 Pokere
12 Alatini
11 Lynn
10 Culhane
9 Marshall
8 Miller
7 Rutledge
6 Dixon
5 Beckhuis
4 Oliver
3 Dermody
2 Flynn
1 MacKintosh -

-
That was the plan although I think only Goldie and maybe Oliver would make their other teams starting XV.
-
surely the hooker is the little bald bloke who played about a thousand games for them, and at one point people were saying he should be an AB (but was always way too small)
-
@mariner4life They could have Rutledge or Hall. Flynn was an AB though.
-

Norm Hewitt is an option too. I would vote against him for the Magpies team purely because he left us for Southland.
-
I would have Ken Stewart ahead of Dixon at 6. Natural number 7 but good enough to play at 6 for the AB's.
Failing that good as Leicester was he could only get into the side when Stewart wasn't available so Ken has to be first choice.
-
so, are we saying goldie plays for southland? cooke and timu on the wings for otago?

Goldie is Otago through and through.
Glory years.
-
oh, i agree, but if the rules are first team
ruling @Crucial ?

Both are before my time really so we can make that change.
@Kiwiwomble Yes, the original team gets first selection.
-
There has to be an exception to the rule though for Harbour given the NPC had been going for over a decade before they were formed
-
@dogmeat Any Auckland player who played for a NH club can be picked?
-
@Bovidae said in Ultimate NPC: - Southland:

so a guy who plays 7 times for Southland as a 19 year old has to play there despite playing 56 times over 9 years for Otago?
This concept is a sham

It's only if a player is claimed by 2 or more teams. Who does NH miss out on?

Unless we want Cooke for the Magpies.

I'm pretty sure that Southland wouldn't leave him out, and they were his first team. He was born in Invercargill, educated in Invercargill and had his first year of NPC for Southland. So I don't reckon Otago through and through.
Which means that Otago can't have him. Two good options there though.

yes, i have such vivid memories of him in a Southland shirt
as opposed to in the Blue of Otago being fucking amazing.

I'm just annoyed we didn't select Randell, Kronfeld and Timu when they were at high school ... although Randell would have only been 16 I think (he first played for Otago as a 17 year old).

This rule is there so that the 5 SR bases can't just select players that moved there, as was common in the 1990s and 2000s.

@Nepia dont feel bad...we let Richie McCaw go

Hahahaha, although, at least you didn't let Michael Jones go.

Southland can have Goldie if they want him.
-
@mariner4life There will be winners and losers for players who played for more than one province. It makes selections less predictable. Just a bit of fun though.
-
I love the way that no one is complaining that Meg gets to play for the Stags

Bachop > Meg ... and of course there's always Angela Ellis.

I'm not making the rules. How many games should he have played for Southland to qualify? Having been raised there as well.
He went to Otago later for Uni I think? That's when he became a star. Otago through and through? I dunno.
I'm still a Kiwi after 20 years in Hong Kong. Leopards, spots.
