Who is Kate Henwood? Mulu and Tangen-Wainohu aren't involved.
-
Kate Henwood a surprise name in there. Not on the Manawa squad list but a Volcanix player last year mainly from bench. Angel Mulu not in those teams so possibly a replacement.
Edit: Google indicates that Henwood has been around the FPC scene for a number of years. BOP are stacked in the front row so maybe don't take her being a bench player as an indicator
-
-
I hadn't noticed that Kelsey Teneti is also in the Blues team. Has she also been released from sevens?
-
Blues making hard work against the Tahs in the first five minutes. Can’t get out of their 22 and turning the ball over easily
-
Both teams very evenly matched, thus far.
-
Blues look the stronger but need to tidy up errors.
5-0 so far (Blues) -
Tahs girls really lacking penetration. Not enough leg drive at contact.
-
Finishes up 12-0 to Blues. Very pre-season would be the polite assessment.
Blues v Chiefs Manawa now. Blues with the advantage of dusting off some cobwebs. Chiefs fresher.
-
End of this half: Blues 12 - 0 Waratahs
Katelyn Vahaakolo scored the first Blues' try. Who scored the 2nd?
Edit: 2nd try scored by Melanie Puckett.

Only 5 players in the starting XV for this half are the same.
-
Chiefs bringing way more intensity to this.

They all changed around during the game anyway. Rolling subs
-
Geogia Daals is quick!
-
Second try to Mererangi Paul. Nice team try. Great kick from Tubic.
12 - 5 Chiefs Manawa
-
Another scrappy game but this one had some good moments of continuity at times.
12-5 -
End of this half: Chiefs Manawa 12 - 5 Blues
Chiefs: Mererangi Paul 2 tries; Hazel Tubic con
Blues: Ariana Bayler try. -
First time at this stadium it's pretty nice tbh. Missed the first couple of halves.
-
Is the new tackle line in force for these games?

The new tackle line for amateur rugby in the UK? Nope
-
Great try scored by Tenika Willison, converted. Chiefs 7-0 Waratahs.

In NZ, the reduced tackle height (to below the sternum) is only trialled in community rugby (including senior premier club and school First XV grades), not in SR Pacific or SR Aupiki.
-
Another good team try to the Chiefs. Carla Hohepa scores; Tubic converts.
14 - 0 Chiefs
-
Another try to the Chiefs. Was it Harono Te Iringa?
Conversion by Tupic was good.21 - 0 Chiefs
-
Try to Azalleyah Maaka. That's it. Convincing win.
Chiefs 26 - 0 Waratahs
-
@Stargazer MC said the wrong name at the stadium, it was Harono.
-
I arrived just as the Blues-Waratahs game had started.
For two international players, who also play for the same province, Marino-Tauhinu and Tubic looked very rusty in the Blues game. Maybe the replay will be kinder.
Willison was very useful at fullback. A great conversion too.
-
@Bovidae From the tv coverage Williston was pick of the backs. Tubic had some very good moments but yeah, some rust too. Thought Marino-Tahunu was good. Big difference when she went off.
Chiefs forwards are looking very strong.
Interesting that Demant said Blues hadn’t had that much training together. I know that Chiefs have had camps most weekends and so have the Canes. Also both have had warm up games against men’s sides. Not sure about Matatu, they have been quiet on the SM front. -
@Crucial I thought that the passing from all halfbacks was slow and inaccurate at times.

I’ll take your word for it. Can usually tell that much better live. This organisational side of M-Ts game seemed very good and she was involved in a couple of good turnovers.
Obviously watched to see how our whanau girl went and hopefully it’s not too biased to say that for her first run at this level she didn’t look out of place. Some good thinking and tidying to assist in one try and didn’t miss a tackle while making a couple of good hits. She’ll be annoyed at getting pushed off the ball in a counter ruck but that wasn’t all her fault. Had no support and the ball could have still been cleared but for some dithering. Haven’t spoken to her yet but sure she loved all 30 minutes or so. -
Yeah, I thought she played well.
BTW, Allan Bunting was sitting in the grandstand watching the games.
