@cgrant I once read an article on him - I think it was by Logan Savory, the journo who covers the Southland Stags. He grew up in Australia, moved to Samoa where he took up rugby and then came to New Zealand for a rugby opportunity.

Played for the Highlanders U20s, Southland Stags and turned out for the Taranaki Bulls this year. He's a 6/8, good athlete and solid ball carrier. He's had a few injuries which I think hampered his development somewhat, but if he could further round out his game, I think he could be a handy player.

    Edit, found the article:

3 years? He ain’t coming back. You think Eddie Jones ain’t chucking a 6’4” Japan-qualified player into his second row alongside Werner Dearns?

Yeah, clearly has his sights on playing for Japan.

Plummer’s Tawa and Wellington Lions locking teammate Akira Ieremia is off to Japan for three years. It is understood that he was offered a training contract with the Chiefs but has opted for Japan, the land of his birth, for his immediate playing future.

Man thats a shame, he has great ball skills, I was impressed by him
Will see him playing for Japan very soon I guess.

Canes home jersey for 2025, looks like no sponsor has been announced yet.

Away jersey is the same as last year.

Doesn't matter as they'll use their away jersey for majority of the season.

Some players spotted in the Hurricanes most recent story on Insta that weren't in the initial squad are:

    Jone Rova (Canterbury)
    Callum Harkin (Wellington)
    Hugo Plummer (Wellington)
    Vernon Bason (Manawatu)
    Nui Muriwai (Wellington)
    Joseph Gavigan (Manawatu)
    Mosese Bason (Manawatu)
    Cooper Flanders (Hawkes Bay)
    Sione Halalilo (Wellington)
    Logan Wallace (Manawatu)
    Patrick Tuifua (Hawkes Bay)

Along with a number of young fellas I didn't recognise.

I feel like Plummer and potentially Harkin will become full squad members next year all going well.

@Canes4life I posted a few weeks back (from the Manawatū Standard) that Jai Tamati (halfback) and Liam O’Connor (1st 5) have a NDC. They might be amongst the young players you saw. Maybe a few others from the NZ U20s too like Sam Coles.

    Didn't notice Sam Coles.

Anyone know who this guy is?

@Canes4life Nic Souchon. Played for Otago, Southland and BOP and has most recently been over in the states in the MLR. Plays hooker.

Interesting they didn't bring in someone like Harry Press.
