Well Bruce Daisley seemed to agree with me:
Daisley acknowledged that validating certain accounts (with a blue tick) was a mistake. “One of the things we felt we got wrong was verification. The intention was for a badge to say, ‘this is the real one’. What happened over time is that when these people sent things that were egregious and politically offensive, people would say to us, ‘Oh, so you’re endorsing that?’”
Twitter rescinded blue ticks not from accounts shown to be fake, but because people didn't like what the accounts said.
While that catastrophe unravels, I'm hearing that the mood from RA has softened towards the other Unions given board members suddenly realised they're dependant on votes at the upcoming election.
It was my understanding that blue checks largely showed ideology, not identity, given the manner in which they were handed out.
Just got back from two-up and this was on the TV in the background. Why are the Warriors persisting with this three legged donkey on the right wing? In the second half his defensive shithousery gifted the GC two tries. The GC fer fuck's sake.
Build it and they will come. Eventually?
Hmm
Herbert said Rugby Australia was concerned about New Zealand and South Africa formulating a plan for old-fashioned tours in 2026 and 2031, which would lead to an eight- or nine-game tour being played during the Rugby Championship window.
It would mean a truncated Rugby Championship for the Wallabies and Argentina, which would mean a reduction in the much-relied upon Test revenue. Herbert said Australia would be looking for compensation if it was to approve.
Do SANZAAR decisions need to be unanimous?

Agree. Super rugby has, in my view, huge potential. But not if it continues to be subservient to test rugby. This must be kicked into touch in some way
I just hope they have found someone great. Not just OK as they couldn't find someone who was super-duper.
TBH, you've got league if you want club/franchise to dominate rather than tests.
Also, that face and added to his "marketing" background has me already feeling nervous.
I'm already resigned to this being a fizzer of an appointment. Does anyone know what ground-breaking implementations he was responsible for at Canterbury or the A-League? Have either of them substantially increased revenue or market share? Any fundamental changes to competition structures resulting in tangible benefits?
You sound a real joy and a positive person , looking to be negative about someone don't seem to know anything about.
Gotta love forums don't ya?
Thanks Mr Awesome Supporter of All Things Rugby, but I did lay out my concerns that we'd managed to land someone none of us were aware of before and questionable achievements. Certainly no one appears to be saying "fuck yes" do they? But thanks again for your input.
@Canes4life difficult to know exactly as there were other issues as a result of running out of traction talent on a bike, but I was back in three months.
This popped up in my YT feed. Amusing and quite frankly alarming as I haven't trained since prepping to go to France last year.
Doc says another week and the internal stitches should be dissolving so I can start training again. I already know it will be worse than the above video and certainly not as funny. Perhaps once you get over 50 there's such a thing as muscle amnesia?
I don't know, hence using terms such as may, some etc.
@Kiwiwomble I was just reading about how a couple of their early additions lost their licences or some such.
@Kiwiwomble said in Super Rugby 2024:
@antipodean i think if its based on actual business cases like A-League rather than trying to force growth into new areas that show little interest, thats exactly what we should do
I don't much about the A-League and care even less, but it seems they've had the same problem with expansion that SR had.
They've also got the problem that the best exponents of their game are definitely not in Australia.
It would be reassuring if the reported comments included something like "he presented a compelling SWOT analysis showing us some easy gains and long term strategy for growth in engagement, revenue etc."
But fear not, he played some code a few decades ago.

the implication this is because he is a pacific islander
No, the prospective answers to his claim may shine a light on the perception allegedly held by some that Māori and Pasifika players are lazy.
@Kiwiwomble said in Super Rugby 2024:
@antipodean no facts too support this but my feeling was A-League is growing in popularity, long term growth with new teams, maybe not huge crowds yet but passionate
Perhaps Super Rugby could do the same, moving on from just 12 teams up to 18..?

can you, for once, just spell out what your fucking point is so i can see whether i agree or disagree, rather than trying to work out what the fuck you are trying to say from one sentence vague posts, and then attempting to discuss that?
And if you are talking about specifics in your article, remember you linked to a paywalled article.
I quoted the relevant part for you in answer to your question so you could join the dots and understand the basis of why I said it may open up a can of worms about some racist attitudes in some coaching staff and administration.
Which bit are you having difficulty with?

The Blues will have done the Canes no favours here. I should imagine the Brumbies will have concentrated during the week on winning collisions and being more accurate with their chances.
holy shit! Secret sauce ... like throw straight to the lineout and stop dropping the ball (looking at you Crusaders)
obviously a tongue in cheek post. But yeah, expect the Brumbies to be up for it.
Yes, the less verbose version.
@mariner4life said in NRL 2024:
SO a Lebanese guy making a Polynesian guy do extra is racist now?
One example is now a trope. Well done.
@mariner4life The trope pushed in media reports about Pacific players being lazy and not putting in the work is common in rugby league.
Ravulo first heard it when he began working with the NRL 15 years ago.
“There’s a narrative they just want to get on the field and play but they don’t want to train,” he said.
“But if you had one or two white players who were reluctant trainers, would you then apply that trope to all white players?”.
