@MajorRage honest question, what did you like about it?
-
@mariner4life Agree with most words. He got somethings wrong (German internationals etc), but you can't deny that Sanzaar are of the view of demoting quality in favour of continual expansion into cash rich areas.
The logistics of the current schedule are a joke, to the point of being ludicrous. Travel between Argentina, Japan, South Africa and NZ/Aus as part of a weekly played club level competition? Give me a break. And they want to add North America to the mix? The tournament is a result of trying to fit everybodies needs in.
The point of Cully's aritcle is that Quality should always be over Quantity. And thats not the current approach.
-
@MajorRage yep, agree with that, i just found his analogies quite ridiculous, and misplaced.
If he really wanted to use soccer as an example, he should have gone with the Champions League, that got bigger, and bigger (remember the 2nd Group stage?) before pulling back a bit (no 2nd Group stage).
Trying to use the Spanish league as an example of something to follow? jesus.
-
@mariner4life yeah, he did sort of mess it up by trying to push the theme of it towards the EPL.

Has Hillary Barry commented yet?
Only if she has exceptional time management skills in between being morally outraged at all rugby players on earth bashing defenseless women.....

Hilary Barry and Jack Tame can piss off! I used to tolerate TV1's Breakfast and the variety of hosts they have had over the years, but this duo is the WORST!
Anywhoo, back to the topic at hand....some shit stories coming out this week (the actual headline of this article differs form the one you see below)

what the fuck is a "Sports Sociologist"? Fuck there's a student loan well spent aye?
And yet another utterly rubbish article. This is getting surreal.

Surely he should have realized there was a reason Psychics weren't rolling in cash?
A psychic who used chakras, incantations, astrology and ‘intuition’ to determine share prices has been cited in the failure of Australian stockbroking firm Burdett Buckeridge Young Limited, it has been revealed.
The firm’s boss, Glenn Rosewall, son of tennis great Ken Rosewall, admitted he took advice on major business decisions including budget estimates and cashflow forecasts from ‘professional intuitive and energy healer’ Nevine Rottinger before the firm went bust in May 2015.
A court hearing examining the company’s failure revealed the firm collapsed owing investors NZ$64 million with liquidator KPMG accusing the firm of dipping into clients’ money in a bid to claw its way out of financial trouble.
If proven, it could give the liquidator grounds to launch an insolvent trading claim against the firm’s directors relating to the multi-million dollar losses – considered the largest failure of an Australian stockbroking firm since the global financial crisis, website InternationalAdviser.com reported.
During the court hearing Rottinger, who had had no financial training, used chakras, incantations, astrology and ‘intuition’ to make her predictions.
“We’re made up of electromagnetic energy. We can manipulate that field… to create better outcomes,” Rottinger told KPMG.
“I just get an image in my mind that tells me what a price may be,” she added, conceding that she was ‘not always right’.
The court heard that Rosewell had wanted to try a ‘mind over matter approach’ and sought out Rottinger’s counsel between 2010 and 2014, with the psychic charging NZ$314 an hour for two hours of work.
Rottinger also gave advice on shifting energy in the office, calming incantations and the chakras that influenced how he dealt with his workload.
According to former BBY CEO Arun Maharaj, Rosewell had been very secretive during quarterly financial presentations and kept his father and the rest of the board in the dark about his activity with Rottinger.
“Amongst many other things, Glenn wouldn’t share revenue numbers, cost numbers with anyone, it was consistent with his secretive form,” Maharaj told the court.
“Team managers would get budgets but the firm as a whole wouldn’t know how the firm was performing.”
Rosewall was asked why he thought it was a good idea to consult Rottinger on financial problems and not with the board of BBY, to which he said it was a ‘hypothetical’.
“She had a different perspective on things,” he said. “I guess initially I was a little bit sceptical but I was open-minded to taking a meeting.”
He said Rottinger was ‘entitled to an opinion’ but it was not an ‘exact science’ and he was ‘dismissive’ of a lot of her ‘input’.
In a liquidators’ report filed on 9 September, KPMG said about 6,000 of BBY’s 30,000 former clients had potential claims against the firm totalling NZ$64 million, although initial investigations have identified a NZ$24 million shortfall in the money that can be used for client claims, InternationalAdviser.com reported.

@taniwharugby wow. A shock jock trying to stir up controversy to improve ratings who ever heard of such a thing? As for reading the mood of a nation I'll bet good money only a tiny proportion of the people commenting on stuff and Facebook about this would actually follow through on the actions they suggested if Filipo wasn't dropped .
Sports sociologist sounds like a decent gravy train to get on. Well done for exploiting the gullible with that job title.

I've edited my hosts file to change from stuff.co.nz to reddit.com/r/bustypetite

1 of these things is not like the others. i have never understood pride in things that are not accomplishments, rather that you were born with. i guess gay not-having-to-be-ashamed-anymore parade doesn't have the same ring to it, but still... why anyone thinks that they should be proud of having been born black or white or male or female or straight or gay is beyond me.
there is at least a reason for oppressed minority groups (mis)using the word pride, in that they have been made to feel ashamed of what they are, or of less worth, and there is consequent widespread underachievement, criminality, depression, suicide, drug abuse etc in these groups. People want to fix these things, so they try to promote 'pride' in the grouping characteristic, when what they really want is pride in the individuals - i.e. not to feel proud of themselves for being gay, but to think that being gay is not negative and to feel proud of themselves. sorry to hear that you need a hand up too mate. -

Richie always looked fucking hot in a kilt.
My parents have heaps of Scottish heritage stuff at their place - plaid, clan badge, jewellery etc, and I love it. That is the heritage I identify with, and I'm so proud of it.
Don't forget to always live by this ethos as well Mokey....it serves me well....
