One hundred push ups

At boot camp this morning we had to do 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 press ups, so 110 in total and I was thinking about this thread while crying during them....<br />

I did ten and then stayed in pressup position while training partner did ten and the 9 etc etc.<br />

When I got to about 5 on the way back up, the form was completely gone and I wouldn't class any from then on in a real press ups. But even so, it was an awesome workout. My flatmate who is a petite but sporty chick managed all 110 full "male" press -ups! -
Good shit Hooroo, I find gritting your teeth and smashing them as fast as you can ( whilst maintaining form ) is the best way. It is easy to lapse into shit form with them but I get the wife to watch and ensure I'm keeping the back straight and all of that. Rotator cuffs are holding up thus far....

How long does it take for you fellas to complete ya numbers?<br />

I would presume it slows down a bit past the 50 mark but I started doing 1 min of pressups as part of my circuit and havent counted them yet but must do a fair few - maybe 30 or 40 at a guess -
Yeah would have to be well over a minute I would have thought. Cant see ya cranking out more than 1 pushup a second for that long. Hmm well maybe one could. Hard to tell how quick ya actually do em.<br />

Might count tomorrow/weds or even try a max pushups tomorrow after spin class -

Most pull ups in a minute is 50 by an American (Jason Petzold, June 2009) scarier though, is a Brit (Stephen Hyland, July 2010) has the record for most in 30 mins - 543. -
Yeah form on those speed efforts must absolutely turn to shit I'd have thought, especially for those with longer arms.<br />

According to this table I ( and heaps of you other boys ) are in the "excellent" catagory for 17-19 year olds ?!?!? Gotta say I'm a bit dubious about that....<br />

Initial test 22 before the form gave out - rank 3 which is pretty ordinary but we'll see how this goes. I might cut back my weight circuit to just this 3 times a week as it looks like a pretty mean workout and gives me a goal to concentrate on.<br />

There is also a pull up one, reckonsitll get you doing 50 of those puppies....have you been doing it MN5?

Reading through the notes on the site, it says you can go to the floor. Are they intimating you can stop on the floor? I was always taught that you can't take the tension off i.e. you hit the floor and go straight back up.<br />

They also say if you are getting tired to rest between reps - does this mean resting on the floor? You can rest up the top (for all the good it'll do your back) but jeez that sounds a bit easy... -
Yeah TR have been doing that and concentrating on form, ie dead hang every time. Reckon I could possibly smash out 20 good form pull ups now but 50 at my weight in a matter of weeks ? fuck no, the tennis elbow would get me first surely. It's a really good programme but I think 50 would be a bridge too far for damn near anyone to be honest.

Touching on what I wrote on NTAs thread. I got my numbers up for a wee while but then regressed a tiny bit ( but still better than where I started ). My advice to youse fullas doing this ( which I took awhile to heed ) is have a week or more off if you don't get any better on any given workout.<br />

As for Taniwhas 50 Pull ups this ain't happening anytime soon unless I cut myself off at the ribcage. -
Yeah brudda, working both kind of benefits the other muscle group I believe. With the push ups I'm stuck in the 80's and not in a good way. Like my career I'm gonna do the old two steps back to move three steps forward and go back to some of the "easier" weeks in an attempt to blitz it well and truly. With the Pull ups 20 full range good ones would be awesome, have restarted that 50 pull up thing although doing that would be nothing short of extra ordinary......
