Oceans 8 - Not as good as 11 and 13 but probably a wee bit better than 12. Probably needed Soderbergh to direct rather than just produce as it was a bit Soderbergh light. The pacing was a bit off and it dragged a wee bit in both the first two acts when it probably didn't need to. Anne Hathaway was pretty good in it.

An aside: on a recent flight I watched *Three Billboards ... * and, because it was a flight, they dubbed out pretty much anything resembling offensive words.
It pissed me off at first, but then I really got into the poorly-matched voices for "fudge" and "shoot" and "mother-lover". I was re-dubbing it in my head on the fly and while my Woody Harrelson needs work, I think my Sam Rockwell was competitive.
I had the exact same experience - except the dubbing was good enough (or I was tired/stupid enough) - to not realise for quite some time what was happening... I thought it was just a deliberately hokey/cutesy dialogue, Coen-ish. And it kinda worked. When I realised it was dubbed over, I got distracted trying to figure out if actual cuss words would improve it or make it worse.
Malaysia Airlines, it was for me, I believe, @Bones. -
Black Panther - decent movie, obviously hyped through the roof as a groundbreaking film or something like that,
Never seen much of Black Panther before in terms of comics so didn't know the background of the Wakandans.
3.5 Wakandian sunsets out of 5 things made out of vibranium

@taniwharugby Yeah I watched that the other night. The visuals were pretty good and all but it didn't really hit the spot for me. Maybe too many characters vying for your emotions but not enough depth to any of them? I would drop half a Wakandan sunset off your score.

Watched Hounds of Love (2016) recently.
Not an original plot - teenage girl gets abducted by a serial-killer couple and tries to survive - bit weak on plot in some parts but really well acted and written. Intelligent and anything but torture-porn
Unsetling to watch as the couple doing the abduction are portrayed as normal and elicit some sympathy while the disturbing parts can be quite visceral, they are left very much to your imagination a la Hitchcock.
Not spectacular but way better than most of this genre.

Took the boy to Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom on IMAX in 3D.
Asked him what he thought of the movie afterwards and his response was: "that was absolutely AWESOME!!!".
Have to agree, but when it comes to Dinosaur movies I'm pretty easy to please. The Indoraptor was pretty badass, and we are all set for plenty of carnage in the next movie - bring it on!
Note for parents: overall not too scary, just some moderately intense/thriller type scenes later on in the dark with the Indoraptor. My boy is 5 and was fine, but he's a bit of a bit of a nut when it comes to Dinosaurs, I think he roots for the Dinosaur a lot of the time.
4.5 dead billionaires out of 5 epic Raptor battles.

I'm with your son there. The amount of times I want the 'heroes' to die a gruesome death only to be saved at the last minute infuriates me sometimes.

Rampage - The Rock, Malin Akerman and Jeffrey Dean Morgan
Good fun, bit of a King Kong, JUrassic Park kinda mash up.
3.5 giant beasties out of 5

Cruising "My List" on Netflix for shit I hadn't watched yet.
Bloody good movie. Who knew Shia LeBouf could act?
Only thing I would have changed: mount that 50 cal in a crossfire and fuck up that SS column.
4.5 tactical errors out of 5 murdered krauts.

War Machine
Still going on the Netflix list with the second Brad Pitt movie.
I though his portrayal of an aging general was great, and how happy was Meg Tilly to play his wife?
Points you in some good direction as to the politics and pointlessness of that particular conflict, as well as giving some insight on the absolute certainty that the US military engenders in itself at the top levels, while the ground pounders have to make the really tough decisions.
4 star general out of 5.

Solo
Eminently watchable. A few things that always make you say "BUT WHAT ABOUT YOUR FREAKING TECHNOLOGY!" and whatnot, but the family and I thought it was great.
4 dead giant space creatures out of 5 gravity wells.
