Sharp Objects - Ep 1. This is the new psychological thriller series featuring Amy Adams and based on the first novel by Gillian Flynn (of Gone Girl fame) about a reporter who returns to her old rural Midwest town to cover the murders of two young girls. Adams' character has demons of her own including a dysfunctional family, a fondness of vodka and self-harm.
All the reviews said it was a slow burner but with a good cast this has promise.

I've heard this is a good un so pretty keen to give it a hoon.
Mrs got me watching Cloak and Dagger which looks pretty shit so far but then again I strongly dislike any Super Heroes who aren't Batman or Iron Man.

Succession
Up to Episode 6
Great writing, great acting
The fan is starting to get covered. -
About 6 eps into Killing Eve...really enjoying it! Darkly amusing, both main female characters (Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer) are very good.
-
finished S1 of KIlling Eve, really enjoyed it.
Love Villanelle/Ocksanna's character!

I've got one problem with it... watching Succession, and Billions, in parallel currently - and really starting to feel my lifestyle is not up to scratch.
(within a 2 hour period, I watched 2 scenes involving chomping down on an ortolan, yet I've never tried one. Hating being poor.) -
Unforgotten on ITV. Third series starting tonight. First two were very good with a nice change to the police procedural format and good writing/characters.
Worth watching and a well written female lead makes it a show the other half will enjoy so you can fill the shared watching quota without suffering. -
Took me right back to Middletown Mall circa 1989 and day's off from Summer Camp 👌

Oh also, Before we Die has been really good.
Compelling thriller from Sweden in which police detective Hanna Svensson steps in to handle a mysterious informant in a criminal organisation when her colleague and lover Sven goes missing
Back watching Sneaky Pete S1 again so can watch S2 with the missus, still really good second time around.
Finally finished Before We Die - highly recommend, bit of a cheesy set up for a second season, but a good, quite suspenseful watch.
Picked back up on Billions also, forgot how brilliant it is. Some of the best dialogue ever.

Finished INto the Badlands - still enjoyable, but you need to like this kind of genre to do so.
Also finished The Expanse, overall good, but were a few eps I kinda thought they were just filling time.
Handmaids Tale - bleak fucking shit! Thought was going along really well until the finale...wtf, seriously?
:::
HOw is OfFred going to get along now? Pretty much outed all those who helped her, does she expect to start a revolution back in the Waterfords house after taking thier baby away and then giving it away?
Why would she give it away, and give up her chance at freedom?
Based on other people throughout, when she returns, she wil be hung or drowned, but wont.
Dumb finale, cynically, done to make room for a 3rd season?

Agree on the Handmaids Tale finale - see spoiler in next post.

Yeah, that ending was fucking stupid. There's no way anyone would give up the chance for freedom. You leave, then figure out a way to come back for your daughter.
Also, the bomb outcome was fucking stupid too. 34 running away Handmaids die but less commanders who are inside the building, and one of the closest Commanders to the bomber lives. And now I'm reading that Aunt Lydia is going to survive her multiple stab wounds - it's like a reverse Game of Thrones, everybody lives.
I like the show, but those scenes fucked me off - Walking Dead script stupidity levels.

Anyone watch the new Sacha Baron Cohen series? I think Nick Mullen (Cum Town) wrote for it.
Great first episode. So cringe
-
@taniwharugby Yes, that last five mins was dumb in THT. What about all the Marthas who risked their necks to help her? And Nick, who stopped Fred from going outside? Everyone is fucking compromised now.
