The Spy Who Loved Me. (1977)
First Bond film I saw. Therefore alltime classic. Everyone's first Bond film is an alltime classic. Man, as soon as I saw the opening skiing stunt it all came back to me, 1977, that shit blew my mushroom dick right the fuck off back then.
Big improvement in pyrotechnics too. And gadgetry. The underwater Lotus is alltime #1 Bond gadget. God I can still rememebr the mini stiffy I had for that thing as a sprog
Moore is still too mannequin-stiff to look like he'd win any fight though.
Can recall henchman "Jaws" scaring the crap out of me as a kid but wft now he just looks like a gimpy bad dental Brodie.
Jaws is good. Also how hot were the two main leading ladies ?

For Your Eyes Only. (1981)
The 70's are over. Still all very quaint prior to CGI though. The baddies are still a bit hapless and unmenacing.
No more huge spacious wacko 70's pastel grottos though.
Fuckall gadgets in this one. Overall, apart from the locations, it looked a bit low budget. Stuff all sets, just some ski/car chases. Good action scenes though. Mountain climbing. Luge run with bobsled chased by skier chased by trailbike. No CGI. "You get on that fucking motorbike and follow the bobsled team and skier fluffybunny down the fucken run. And try not to die, shithead. One take, you fucking useless fuckhead."
Aryan nazi biathlon piston wristed gibbon wasnt a bad baddie. The main baddie was shit. Hardly even knew who he was for the first hour. Speaking of Game of Thrones, one of the baddies was a very young Daddy Lannister from Game of Thrones, who, spoiler, carked it on the throne in GOT.
Main baddie in that ( Julian Glover ) was also the old bearded fluffybunny in GOT. Maester what's his name.....Julian Glover appeared in Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Bond and GOT. That's about as seriously wank banky as you get.
The henchman ( Eric Kriegler ) was good. He picked up a dirt bike and chucked it at Bond which takes some UBS. Naturally me being me I had to prove I can do it too ( it's essentially a power clean ). I did but it's hard going on a hundy kg of motorbike.
@Rocky-Rockbottom You have one glaring omission. I'll give you a clue....It's my avatar.
How much do you know about crocodiles Mr Bond ?
I know there's a few Bond haters on here. You can all eat a massive pile of dicks. That series has gone strong for FIFTY SIX years!!!!

That's a lifetime bogan badge of honour.
For what it's worth I love Live and Let Die. It's dated, cheesy and extremely racist. But it's top 5 Bonds which is a massive achievement. I'm expecting a glowing review.

Funny story. My boys went through a massive Bond stage ( they got over it before me ). I was driving, I was being tailgated and oldest ( about 8 at the time ) says in a perfect jive ass black dude accent that "You got a honky on yo tail'
Between us we can also do the Tee Hee crocodile scene word for word. Classic henchman. There's a reason he's my avatar. So loquacious for a henchie and in classic Bond tradition he woulda fucked him up if not for some luck on the part of our hero

oh shit, the blaxploitation one? yeah, gave up on that after about 20 minutes. Moore's first outing was too dandy anorexic fop after Connery and shocked me right out of the fucking thing. Although he does have some solid comic timing.
It has three classic villains. Jane Seymour is 22 and hot. JJ Pepper is a hilarious sterotype. Get back in there bitch.

Kirwan said:
Keanu has a limited range, sure, but he can act. And winning an Oscar is a meaningless measure of an actors ability.
Gary Oldman doesnβt have one, and Gywneth Paltrow does for example.
Gary Oldman is a freak and I mean that in a good way. He's probably the best most diverse actor I've ever seen.
Daniel Day Lewis is the best. That prick went from My Left Foot to Last of the Mohicans. Can box and make farking shoes. Goat.

Am I the only person who thought his portrayal in Gangs of New York had the same character mannerisms, etc. in There Will Be Blood ?

no you're not , the two movies kind of blur into one in my memory.

@rancid-schnitzel I knew exactly where this was going as soon as I wrote it. He is a magnificent actor who on occasion hams the fuck out of his roles.
-
Good to see I'm not the only one who doesn't see the appeal of There Will Be Blood.
But he's fuckin' good in My Left Foot, In The Name of the Father and Lincoln. The Last of the Mohicans is one of my favourite movies, but I like the Michael Mann vibe. I could watch the last 10 mins repeatedly.
