re:MWC, "...dayy old, dayyyy old. Uncle Henry eat a day old bread" was just about the funniest thing my 80's teen self had ever heard in his short dopey life. In fact moronically I STILL say it to myself around the kitchen.
some other 80's sitcoms i was rooting:
Get a life: Chris Elliot the bald paperboy? This show was godhead
Family Ties: this was pretty great for a while there, once you got past the saccarine shit to MJFox and his $$ shtick
Sledgehammer: the blonde cop guy? anyone else rememebr this one?
Moonlighting: loved this. they kept lookign at the camera and talkign to it
Garry Shandling Show so awesome. just mindbending shit.Yup great show, from memory it was one of those comedies that was buried late on tv 2 growing up.
Back in the day where recording your favourite that was too late to watch live wasnt easy. -

If I win enough money to have a classic car collection, a Ferrari 308 is first in there.
Because of Magnum PI? A Hyundai i30 is a faster car, that's what happened to performance.
Pretty much. I just love the way they look
T'was a thing of beauty, almost on a par with the 246 that preceded it.
Edit: Here you go.

as a teen watching MWC, I always wondered where the Kelly's of the world were!
Certainly not in Whangarei

@MN5 think you should venture past Auckland one day bro, did you know there was a whole other island below Wellington too:?
Were plenty of hot chicks about in my teens, plenty of bimbos, plenty of slappers, just not all in the same person!

Used to like Remington Steele as well. 21 Jumpstreet was pretty good, just like 90210 it seemed perfectly normal to have actors far older than the characters they portrayed.
Near the end of the 80s I really enjoyed Tour of Duty, I guess it followed the success of Platoon?

Was in Auckland last week and somehow got 68 Tinder matches in one evening. I think all the sluts up there knew fresh meat when they saw it.
You could spam this thread with Bundy all day, this is one of the absolute classic scenes....

That was great for two seasons as it was a military show, then they dropped the budget, introduced regular women characters and it turned to shit. China Beach already existed and dealt with that side of the story.

Yeah, the first couple of years were great. Hill St Blues was probably the biggest drama show of the 80s, funnily I never really got into it. Probably too young
There were lots of feel good family sitcoms in the 80s too. Cosby Show, Growing Pains, Facts of Life. Jones!TV plays a lot of retro stuff, I watch from time to time, for nostalgia's sake

Yeah, I remember watching it with my parents and them wondering whether it was too adult for me ... seemed really gritty back then but would be tame as fudge now. I mostly just remember the opening titles and music actually.

Just a brilliant show. I remember trying to track down a DVD boxset of this (which I now own) but there was nothing out for years, so I ended up emailing with the Producer/Writer of the show (Alan Spencer) who was a nice guy.

Does anyone remember watching the TV show Ark II when they were a kid? (Just noticing the Logan's Run TV show in the OP now reminded me of it). It had a bunch of people riding around in future vehicle and one of the dudes had a jet pack. I probably only remember it because of the jetpack.
Also, does anyone remember a show about British kids who go places on a magic carpet and there's some bird (as in actual bird not female human)?

@Nepia said in Old TV Shows:
@Kirwan Did he send the boxset to you?
He explained that he was frustrated at not being able to get a box set together, and spoke about what was delaying it.
Seemed stoked that I was so keen on getting it.
Wasn’t expecting to get any replies, so was pretty happy.
Took another three or four years for it to come out.

@Nepia The Phoenix and the Carpet? Hated it. Poor man’s HR Pufnstuf. To be fair I was a teenager so not really the target demographic, but we only had one channel so there was no alternative and its presence offended me.
That might be it, I remember being much younger than a teenager and we had two channels so I don't think its presence offended me.

@Nepia Up in our part of Whangarei we didn’t get TVNZ 2 until 1978. It meant that some of the first shows on that channel were 2+ years into their run, or we missed them altogether. Starsky and Hutch was one that we never got to see at all. Saw it rerun much later and decided I hadn’t missed much.
