Who is the AB's 4th choice at 10?
-
On current form I'd actually go Marty McKenzie. He's made a good job at the Chiefs.
Not popular, perhaps, but at least he takes the line on.

Aaron Cruden hasn't been the first choice at Montpellier this year and is remarkably injury-prone now:

And If Crotty moves to 10, it gives us a chance to slot Charlie Ngatai in at 13....

Personally, I'd now be looking seriously at Otere Black.
Would be wise to get him into the squad to give him some experience and see how he goes

Pretty sure you've spelt Ardie Saviour wrong. And you have the wrong position.

Ardie Saviour? Is he related to Ardie Surveyor?
Closely related to Istekau Dagg.

Ahh yes. The Dalmation Dagg connection.

Buggar...
Probably still better than Brett Cameron.

Not according to Grant Fox

If Crotty isn't the first-choice 12, I like the idea of slotting him into 10 from time to time.
Crotty is an excellent player. Interchangeable at 2nd 5 or centre. Can pass off both hands with good proficiency. Courageous in taking on the line. But given he takes an eternity to get a punt off, the number of charge down opportunities available would send NZ rugby fans into meltdown....

Not as long as Jordie Barrett. Perhaps they can be coached?

The next cab off the rank has to be playing in New Zealand - they're not going to open that can of worms for a third choice five-eighth.
They already opened it with Todd last year.

We wouldn't be in this situation if they hadn't insisted on making a sow's ear out of a silk purse.
This sums it up for me, we went to the last RWC with 4 test quality 10s and will head to this one with 0.
The question for me is less about who the back up 10s can/will be and instead about who are the specialist 12s that can take the added decision making responsibility at 12.

Completely different situation. Todd had played SR in NZ in 2018 and was already signed for 2019. His contract with that Japanese club was only for about 4 months in 2018.
Parker is playing SR in Japan, Cruden is playing in France (contract until June 2020) and Carter is contracted to a Japanese club for Top League. It's unlikely that Cruden and Carter will ever play professional rugby in NZ again, and it is still the question whether Parker will return to play in NZ in 2020.
