Waikato vs Canterbury

@Steven-Harris Hadn't heard that. Don't rate him either. I suspect he'll peak at the Otere Black level.
-
Waikato's attack was very good despite having two props in their backline.
Whitelock's defense was not the best in this game.
Waikato's number 8, Murray Iti, was very good.
Fletcher easily outplayed Cameron.
Tupaea is a stud. Him and ALB in the Chiefs midfield is something to look forward to.

Congratulations to Waikato, well deserved at the end of the day..
Gotta say i was a bit underwhelmed by Brett Cameron..I think the Blues dodged a bullet with his non signing ..Wait what? Blues tried to sign him? FFS.

@DrivingMaul Nice interview mate. Should have asked him how that pass wasn't ruled forward though

Fuck Dwayne Sweeney is lazy. Ball gets thrown at the ground and he's he closest player and he doesn't even go for it. Piss me off.
Sweeney definitely stifles the backline. I want to see Tupaea-Sullivan.
Really happy with this win as I expected Canty to run away with the game with 20 to go. But we showed some ticker to stay in the fight.
Waikato definitely need to improve their defence which was too passive. The scrum problems surprised me, and I wonder if the locks contributed to this. The Waikato team that ended the game had plenty of players under 20 years old so that is a positive for the future.

post match interviews with Mitchell Drummond on his 50th cap and Hamilton Burr on his debut

@DrivingMaul bloody hell, man on a mission. Good stuff mate.
-
@Hooroo Yeah going to the Waikato game and seeing them win made the blow of last night a bit softer. Was the first Waikato game I had been to in 12 years and it rained and we had to move and ended up neat a bunch of Cantabs and the bantz were great.

Just coming back to this thread to remind me there is the odd bit of happiness in rugby
If this thread makes you happy, you should head on down to the Ta$man-Wellington one....!

Feedback from the front row was yes lack of support coming from 2nd row. Sorted at halftime

I fully expected two fairly convincing wins last night in an excellent night of footy on the couch. What i got was a rapidly developing head cold which limited me to one wheat bear and one pinot, and then put me to sleep (thankfully) during the second of two really fucking disappointing results.
Canterbury now get Ta$man at home this Sunday. Can't wait for a bit of afternoon footy and I'll be heading along, but I'm a little worried about being 0-2 after it! Be nice for Ennor and / or Bridge to be available, but i wouldn't be surprised if both are in the AB 23.

Fletcher Smith is from Nelson - born here and went to Nelson College until CBHS poached him.
What a slut. Nelson to CBHS, to Otago and the Highlanders, to Waikato and the Hurricanes.
