Not a great time to go on strike
Great time to go on strike. Perfect time probably. Just not great for rest of us
Well they live in society as well, so not in their best interests either.
Might have to pull a China and make the strike illegal temporarily

You could possibly call it a state of civil emergency? That may prevent them, but not entirely sure on that.

Yeah, something like that is what I mean. Be nice not to end up like Italy, and have the whole country quarantined.

Also not a great time to get public support for your cause either.

Force them to go to work. Even if they maintain that they're ill. And then hit them with cattle prods if their productivity isn't what you'd like.

Can't do that in lil ole NZ if a union decides to strike.

Melbourne...
I see shit like that and fervently hope this virus is orders of magnitude worse than predicted.
I know this toilet paper is just the most ridiculous thing, but wouldn’t it be funny 2 years from now we are all looking back wishing we bought more TP because it’s now gone the way of the dinosaur..

An absurd thing to do. It's one thing to pay people a retainer for their services and expect they perform when when required, another altogether to arbitrarily decide that people who normally provide services can't withdraw their labour.

No less absurd than using a potential pandemic as a bargining tool for your compensation.
Am sure there have been examples of temporary measures to ensure the public safety in the past. It's all moot anyway, this government is directly funded by the unions, so they would never even consider it.
