2nd session since the OP or 2nd session this week?

Wouldnt have thought 2 sessions in 2 weeks would make any difference unless you didnt push as hard 2nd time round?
-

not for them....
-

Better half is on holiday overseas so I've tried in vain to do some Pilates on my own thanks to Google but unlike doing weights my motivation and discipline when alone is next to zero, definitely a better idea to wait until she gets back and do it then under her expert tutelage. Hopefully any "gains" I have made in my core and flexibility haven't vanished already.

I'll start off with an inspirational quote from Simon Danielli, Scottish Winger who played in the 03 and 11 World Cups.

"I’m dreadful at Pilates. I’ve signed up for a course because it’s supposed to help with core strength and I find it really hard. I’m in a class with people who are mostly over 50, but all of them are better than me at most exercises. I’ve left my competitive side on the rugby pitch, though"
Read more at http://www.rugbyworld.com/countries/scotland/journey-through-rugby-simon-danielli-22425#KICQdooeLvT15JT0.99

Now you pricks will probably point out that he wasn't even first choice for Scotland most of his career, ( those of you who've even heard of him ) but fact is he was still an elite athlete so to hear him say that is pretty encouraging for someone who is still poor to put it mildly...picturing his two late tries to snatch a win against the might of Romania still brings tears to my eyes to this day.

Mrs MN5 wants me to come to her classes but I have issues with not being awesome so don't want people to stare at me so instead I'm embarking on a daily stretch routine ( bout 15 minutes each morning ) to work the hip flexors, glutes and other such shit. As an aside how many of you blokes can touch your toes ? I can't but I'm getting closer......once that improves I'll be there with bells on.
-

am pretty sure John Timu (or was another established AB around the time) did some ballet classes, that he said helped for conditioning and strength during his career....I guess the biggest thing for macho men like us is to get past the feminine stigma attached to stuff like that, but I expect professional sports teams incorporate aspects of Pilates, Yoga etc in their programmes nowadays.

Mrs MN5 is an ex gymnast and has done shit like that for years and years. I don't mind going to the Pilates classes it's just the fact I am still shit which is putting me off, I'll wait til I get more competent and then go in all guns blazing.
-

Mrs JK is the same actually, ex gymnast / dancer / cheerleader and super strong core. Has abs pretty much year round, eats crap and doesnt do much more than the odd pilates session, a 5 to 10km run once a week and the occasional outdoor high intensity session with me

Married again ? is that some kind of joke ?
-

Been doing the stretching every morning, I think it's working ie I think I'm able to stretch a tiny bit more than last time.

Like anything I'm sure it'll help with the other training. Over the weekend after the better half suckered me into helping move a whole lot of equipment I curled a 30kg dumbbell I saw at the gym a few times and a former pro bodybuilder told me I was strong.

I'm fairly certain he wasn't taking the piss either.
-

Keep up with that stretching bro, makes a huge difference to all sorts of lifts, and just moving around in general. Mobility first and the strength will follow.

Quite correct brudda, strength is already good but as I'm in my ( ahem ) late 30s it's easy to see how the body seizes up if ya not careful. Pretty cool doing something I've never really focused on much in the past though.
