Makes you feel like the training has been useless but I have been told it’s just a phase and he’ll decide himself what makes an easier life.
Yep. Our wee bitch did a teenage phase and the wife fought her all the time (lots of shouting) but she has completely calmed down now, and the dog is also much better.
The dog has never fought with me and when we took her to training the bloke running it said that dogs are "sizeist" and the bigger that you are they are more likely to listen to you, or be aggressive if you are a threat. I had never heard that before.

So if the dog listens to the wife over the husband is the dog saying she's fat? That's a risky ole line to walk for any creature.

Tall mate, tall. Never, ever fat. Then there is the aggression thing, probably from both parties.

He’s getting more social interaction with other dogs now which has calmed him down a fair bit.
Really important apparently. They need their pack, you, but they need to see more of their own as well.
They are very social creatures, hence the anxiety when left alone and I don't understand people that get a dog and do that.

I am sitting in my office and my puppy is next to me. Suddenly work isn't quite so bad

Got a puppy three months ago. Half American bulldog, half American staffy. Puts on about a kilo a week. Big, stubborn. Sometimes fun.

I should add that despite all my good advice, I haven't had the time available to devote to training this puppy as I'd like and some bad habits have already manifested. So now not only do I have to work twice as hard to fix them, I feel like I've let this dog down. "No bad dogs, just bad owners".

Spend the time now, you still have plenty to get things right with the puppy. Up to 2 years to imprint and bond. They teach you as much as the other way around in terms of communication - but being dominant and yet not pushing too hard can be a bit tough.
They are also puppies, a 6 month old human baby is a fucking idiot in the greater scheme of things, so give him/her a chance (and you haven't missed that window yet).
