EU covering themselves in inglory.
Nervous Nellies.
I do wonder if it’s all a smokescreen to hide their continued fuck ups in rolling out the vaccines. A sort of we couldn’t vaccinate people until we were sure of the vaccines, rather than we couldn’t do it due to politicising the whole process.
1 million %
Tragic, really.

The NHS has vaccinated against COVID 8 people per second in recent days. Over 2% of the UK population have received their first jab in the last 48 hours
Long read, but a good one, on Kate Bingham who masterminded the UK vaccinne strategy.

Nearly 874,000 COVID-19 vaccinations registered in the UK yesterday. An incredible effort.
Amazing. Really if China or North Korea said that we wouldn't believe them.
In NZ news - I think we got Bruce and Brian jabbed at the airport yesterday, so we're doing O.K.
-
ONE YEAR
ONE FUCKING YEAR
Still in lockdown - can drive 5 miles to exercise - and fuck all open.
With no end in sight regardless of the spin the Government(s) are putting on the vaccine.

And I was one of them. It certainly is a well oiled machine. I was onsite no more than 3 min at my local vaccination hub.
-
@scribe I went to a hub too and I was really impressed with how it was being managed. The flow of people allowed in was strictly controlled but they were still getting the numbers through. When I got through the registration process ( couple of minutes at most) and got in to the main hall, there was a queue of around 30 people waiting to go into 8 vax stations. Five minutes of queuing and I was done. All the time I was there the queue remained about the same number, emphasising the control factor.
All round very impressive.
-
@catogrande Nobody in the world does a queue like the poms.

I know 1-2 people involved in setting up the operation - operational process specialists or geeks I worked with a few years back.
From what I've heard the end-end process, from vaccines being ready to distribute to people leaving the car park, was developed and tested in Q2/Q3 last year before people were trained on the process.
I'd imagine it's managed tightly with MI being analysed daily on things like thruput, no-shows, queueing time to receive the jab, etc and that's being fed back to tweak and improve efficiency.

Read a piece at weekend that success of rollout was critically related to the access which was available to a very decent database. PPE not so much.
-
@pakman I think the success of the rollout can actually be given to Boris.
Because I think in around May/June last year he called a senior meeting and said "Well, we've royally fucked up everything to do with this pandemic, and we must turn it around. Throw everything we've got, literally everything, at the vaccination program"

The real answer in terms of UK domestically IS Easter.
But Boris pandering to SAGE so May 17 will hold.Overseas travel depends muchly on how Europeans and others get their **** together.

So to put it another way, do you think that when a critical number of people have been vaccinated we can just go about our lives domestically?

In my mind once the over 50s are done, domestic restrictions ought to be minimal.
