I'M DOING THE AUCKLAND MARATHON!!!!
-
Excellent stuff Bart, if you guys want to see how far your running try this site out.
Think someone must have mentioned here at fatbuster some time ago.

http://www.mapmyrun.com/ -
7am or soon after would be cool - I will pick you up.

here's a map of the run.

A:Â Start
B:Â End of the opening uphill cliff climb
c: End of mainly uphill running - I think undulating would be best term, but going up most of the way. From here to D is all downhill but for that one little uphill stretch.
d:Â onto the road for downhill back to start.

from d to a on the road is about a kilometre - so can roughly work out whole run that way...?? -
Not for the common man, but there is a mixture or moderate running mixed in...... or was that just a well placed dig about why I haven't turned up to touch rugby on Sundays??? <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Was thinking more of WTW's advice, but it could also have been a dig! -

Nah, I'm sticking to the plan provided from the pro. So far so good -
Serious question here H, and don't take it the wrong way but, how are your nuts and tits? When I had a lapse of concentration once years ago and decided to try out the London Marathon I was running on a tread mill for an hour a night. I had to vas up the inside of my legs to prevent ball rash, got very painful before the vas.
Also my nipples used to be as sore as hell after a long run? -
Ages ago when on a fitness kick and I was doing 10 and 12k runs my gym trainer told me to put sticking plasters on my nips and because of that I didn't have a problem except when I forgot to and then it really smarted.

For the two veg my running short have sort of bike pants sewed into them so it keeps everything in place <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Learnt the painful way though ages ago. -
Looking good Hooroo. Re: the chafing, I've never had an issue on shorter runs but after the HM last year my nipples were chafed as all hell. You don't really notice it while you're running but it stings like buggery afterwards! At least mine weren't bleeding like some other poor bastard's who finished behind me <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I'm told that wearing natural fibres as opposed to synthetics will lessen the degree of chafing... -
Proud to report that the Hooroo Whangamata mountain climb / run was completed this morning in shitty weather, wet and windy, but pretty sheltered in forest.

First lap 53 odd minutes, second lap 54 minutes.

The first lap could have been 53:59, I just glanced at watch and saw the 53 minutes, did not note the seconds, dammit. Second lap seemed much quicker though!!

Longest time and no doubt distance I have ever run! -
Hello! Hello! Hello!!!

Why is everyone looking so down today??? AB's/Schmaybees!!!! Who cares when you get a WOW! from a lady you haven't seen in a while!!! That made my night last night. The results are really starting to show physically and mentally as I am absolutely amping to go for every run. I'm just so stoked I booked the marathon. One thing that blows me away in all this is that I will be runnig half marathons as training runs!!! Booking the Whangamata 1/2 on the 13th of September thanks to Barts advice.

A fairly good week food and excercise wise but I missed my first run from my training programme due to time management and a friggen frangin cold!!

So a week in summary:

22 Jul 36mins inc 2 sets of 3min Moderate and 2 minutes easy COMPLETE Went down to the river again and ran in the rain. Slight strain down the side of my calf that was hard to shake but got through OK

23 Jul 22mins Hilly easy COMPLETE Round the block and up and down hills. Easy Peasy

24 Jul 36mins Hilly easy INCOMPLETE!!!! Arrrrrggggghhhhh I owe a mate a sushi lunch as I said I wouldn't miss one run unless injured. I was supposed to run in the evening but didn't realise the Waikato match was starting at six and I needed to pick up a mate for the game and the next day I had a cold and thought it would be better not to run. Gutted at myself

26 Jul 90mins Hilly easy on grass. COMPLETE This run was a whole lot of fun!!! It was up around the logging tracks in the hills behind WHangamata. Some quite steep gnarly bits but manageable. Ran with Bartman who tells me that this was his longest activity he had done on his feet and he looked remarkably fresh after. 1 hour 50 mins running which is 20 mins longer than required but the beggining of the track is a very very steep uphill that we needed to walk up before we started. Need more runs like this as they are so much more interesting than running on the beach etc. Feeling good today tough, no stiff muscles

This week:

29 Jul 48mins Easy flat
30 Jul 48mins Hills
31 Jul 48mins Hills
01 Aug 100mins Hills

Really starting to get some good runs in this coming week. Over 4 hours running which is fairly sharp I reckon. I think that's about all for this week.

Now ladies, I know I gave my 0800 number out willy nilly last week, but could you please keep the messages clean. I like to think I keep a clean and pure mind!! Oh OK, keep 'em coming..................

Okey dokey that's all for this week. Chin up re the AB's, NPC starts this week so forget about the All Blacks for a bit and get out and support your local team at your local rugby park. Much more satisfaction to see boys close to home win. Come on Waikato!!!

Cheers

Hooroo xx -
I'm learning my dear readers, I'm learning!!

It has only just occurred to me this week that nutrition is a massive part of this, especially when your running 4 hours a week. I have really let myself down this week after what was a magnificent start with some really invigorating and dynamic runs... (well for me, maybe not to wee running Billy)

Usually by Tuesday I know exactly where I will be running for the weekend but this week I let myself down with a lack of preparation. You will see below <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

29 Jul 48mins Easy flat. COMPLETE in the pouring rain along the river bank. I think I enjoyed this run the most as it was exciting in the rain and I was having a rubbish week at work, so managed to let it all go during the run.

30 Jul 48mins Hills COMPLETE. I set myself a target of 8 k's just to increase my pace a bit as I have been running 7 min k's recently. I only managed 7.6k's but I was happy enough with that.

31 Jul 48mins Hills COMPLETE. Sucky boring run. River banks were closed off and I like to have an idea as to where I will run before I leave. I had to make this up as I went and ended up running around suburbia which is dull as dirt. Completed it easily enough though.

01 Aug 100mins Hills INCOMPLETE!!!!!!! AAARRRRRGGGGHHHH Woke up on Sat morning feeling flatter than I ever have before any run. Went out over to the University to run round the perimeter and only managed 1 lap of 4.6k's. I just had nothing in me even after my first metre. Pulled up and packed a sad and went home. In hindsight there may have been a few factors, like my body just asking for a longer rest this week etc, etc,etc But the biggest factor was I had only had a Banana in the morning instead of a proper breakfast and also I didn't have my "game head" on. It BEEP'n ruined my whole weekend as I have been so focused each week on getting it right for the big run on the weekend.

In saying all that, I'm not going to beat myself up about it anymore, instead I will 'regroup' in my head and plan better. Will head over to The Mount this weekend for my run as it will be my longest yet. See below

05 Aug 48mins Easy flat
06 Aug 48mins Hills
07 Aug 48mins Hills
09 Aug 110mins Hills

So a 'no excuses' week coming up for me this week. A lot of hard work and better nutrition.

I have found it very hard to write this, this week as I'm a positively engineered person and to write so much negativity irks me no end!! I want next Sunday to come round and for myself to be chomping at the bit to write up all the good things I have done in the week.

So, Head Up Hooroo and Heads Up my dear readers, I'm not going to let you down!!!!!

Loving all your support I am receiving!!!

Cheers xxx
You did well to even get out the door in the weather this week. I went for a bike ride/run on Mondays and that's been it!

Cold, wet, and windy, not much fun.
I know what you mean but I loved running in the stormy weather! A lady caught up to me and started chatting about how mad we both were!! I don't think she was too far from the truth <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> -
What's a heatpump???? <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I have been really good at justblocking everything out and getting out on the pavement. It must be easier training in Winter than the heat of summer? Can't really compare as this is the most running I have ever done
