RWC Final: All Blacks v Springboks
-
Boks played clever rope a dope, as they always do. We knew what was coming but, as mentioned above, our guys weren't mentality there. The boks, and the way they play are just knock out rugby gods, they eat it up and win. We helped, and a few more blue heads we'd have won. But we don't have enough of those, even in our leaders. Next one in Oz is ours

I feel a bit numb ,
Some things didn’t go our way but we didn’t quite execute in key moments either, hard to knock the effort though
Fuck it
-
I feel so bad for the ABs after giving it their all and coming so close to have to spend 30min watching the post game shit
-
@mariner4life Now we have got to do it. And if there is a cantablacks team, then we should throw away that guy.
-
@Victor-Meldrew opening quarter was where we lost it IMO, they dominated us and we had our backs against the wall from there, cards aside.
-
I know no one wants to hear this at this point, but Barnes and his team had a really good game. Couple of decisions could have gone either way as always, I think the Kolisi one should have been red but it hasn’t been since the first week of the tournament so I wasn’t surprised.
Thought Barnes managed the game and his team of officials brilliantly actually, the contrast of his calm under pressure with last night was stark.

Aaron Smith should have played the full 80. Cam will be the 9 next year if he continues on his arc
I'm waiting for all the Head Coach detractors to start claiming Robertson was forced to pick him as Aaron Smith wasn't available...

That last scrum on the first hit the SA prop had his hand on the ground. Touchie should have called it.
What I find interesting about that setup is that they had the most experienced ref with two of the most INexperienced touchies.
They hadn't worked as a team this whole world cup, so why now?
-
Boks are pretty mediocre team. Certainly not in top two in world, maybe not in top three.
Result is like a sporting quiz oddity.
I’d like Foz to come out and say that he thought we were a notch ahead of them tonight, but sport is an odd thing and sometime the lesser team ends up with its name on the trophy.
Fucking well played ABs. Bloody proud of you.

I thought initially we needed to get out to a lead and make them play catch up ,
A tight arm wrestle is their bread and butter

TMO was the villain. Barnes ruled well enough that we could have won. Having said that, fuck me we had chances. Two DG opportunities dead in front that we didn't try to take. To be fair there were 20 minutes to go at the time. But fuck me
-
I agree Barnes wasn’t bad. My issue, as someone else mentioned, is the system of having the TMO intervening uninvited. Technology is ruining the game. It was better when you just had a referee and his two assistants. Call it in real time or let it go.
-
@Dodge yes and no...I don't like the fact the TMO can call a knock on several phases later after a try has scored, but if no try he ignores other ones...although that is a wider issue than this game.
SA should have had a RC and another YC for Eben, and that's the frustrating bit, the inconsistencies from the TMO of when to intervene and what to call on, but shit happens.

Yeah I don’t get the Barnes hate. We could have won but threw the odd forced pass etc which cost us. Don’t think the ref was the cause of the loss.
-
Two knockout games and a final for SA and they didn't deserve to win any of them. Ironically, for the one game the did lose, it could be argued they didn't deserve to lose.
-
Without a hint of hyperbole I no longer love the game after that.
