Quite a few things happening in the NFL right now.

A new Collective Bargaining Agreement barely passed which will come into effect from 2021 season (17 games each, extra playoff spots) - it means no upcoming strike.

Free agency opens this week and already there have been some big moves.

      • DeAndre Hopkins traded from the Texans to the Cardinals

      • DeForest Buckner traded from the 49ers to the Colts (for the 13th overall pick in the upcoming draft).

Brady's next team will be the Tampa Bay Bucs by the sounds.

But we can still hate the Pats, right? 🙂

              Respect from Belichick:

That's classy. Tom moving almost reminds me of the scene from "For the love of the game." Perhaps Tom moves on to allow his team to strengthen again without having to suffer through his final years

Word on the street is that Brady saw the huge moves for teams to get players like Hopkins and Diggs, then thought stuff it, Pats aren't gonna get anyone and packed his bags for Tampa.

What's in Tampa? I don't recall them being close to contention. Tom just wants nicer weather in his semi-retirement?

                        Cap space?

One story is that Gisele is not keen on living in California so that would rule out the Chargers. Brady is from CA.

They have a lot of weapons - Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, OJ Howard etc.

They also have a veteran coach who has successfully worked with veteran QBs in the past (Carson Palmer in Zona).

                          Bucs are now a contender.

Shit, is that official? Only one easy trip to Florida this season, as the Dolphins have also recruited well and have a squillion draft pics. Don't know when the last time was that anyone could say that.

Draft is on and live at the moment. No surprises, Joe Burrow goes 1 to Cincinatti. Chase Young to Skins for the second pick.

Should start to get interesting now...

The very next pick the Chargers get their QB with Justin Herbert. I think Tua would've rather fell one spot in the draft, because Herbert has far better weapons to work with.

Looks like Tua was pleased to go to Miami. According to ESPN he is likely to be the understudy to Ryan Fitzpatrick. Considering his injuries and the fact the team isn't good, I'd keep him out for most if not all of the season. Let him hold a clipboard and learn the systems all the while giving him valuable healing time for the long term

The big shocker was the Packers.

The Packers hadn't selected an offensive skill position player in the first round since picking Rodgers in 2005 - Rodgers has 4 years left on his contract - it was the deepest WR draft in a long time - so the Packers trade up to select...

                                                            ..a quarterback. Jordan Love.

I laughed at the comment that said, 'Rodgers will love Jordan Love like a brother'. If you don't know already, Rodgers' brother's name is Jordan and he hates him.

Not a big fan of Rodgers, so the trade and pick is a bit funny to me.

Have been watching some old NFL games while exercising.

2014 Seahawks Packers, at Seattle, Championship game.

Russell Wilson stunk. The Seahawks stunk. And yet, they burgled a late touchdown through a brave fake punt, and then managed a few minutes of magic at the end to draw it.

I'll be honest, I almost turned off 10 minutes into the third quarter. DIdn't remember the result, and it looked like a dead game to me. How Wrong I Was. This had to be one of the great comebacks to win; up there with the Pats Falcons. Aaron and the Packers must have walked away shaking their heads wondering how they lost.

Their draft was terrible this year too. If that guys not at Wilson/Brady level, they should have grabbed some of the WR talent running around. Weird times.

It was one of those rare pro games where people stopped being professional, and just started trying to kill or maim the opposition. Raw, brutal, engrossing but I felt a bit dirty watching tbh. Can google the year if anyone cares.

mis-read this and wound up re-watching the 2014 49ers Seahawks championship game. This was one of the ones I watched when I was getting back into NFL.

Kaepernick was great, such a strong running game. In hindsight, the 49ers got stiffed on a few critical calls in the game; if I'd been a fan I'd have been spitting. Marshawn Lynch is amazing, and Wilson's ability to get out of the pocket and make plays was incredible.

Aside from a great finish, the highlight had to be Sherman blowing up on camera about Crabtree:

Well I'm the best corner in the game. When you try me with a sorry receiver like Crabtree that's the result you're going to get," Sherman screamed. "Don't you ever talk about me."

When Andrews asked him who was talking about him, Sherman yelled "CRABTREE" before continuing on his rant.

"Don't you open your mouth about the best," Sherman yelled. "Or I'm gonna shut it for you real quick. "

nzzp 1 Reply Last reply Reply Quote 1
