Coke Zero

  • I was never really a massive coke drinker.... maybe a can with my lunch every day.. and maybe a bit over the weekend. But I changed to Coke Zero a couple of months ago.... and I ahve lost 5 kgs... down to 70 now...... Still dont think COke Zero is particularly good for you... but it definately has less suger.

    Anyone else tried it?

  • I still think it has a tinge of the Diet Coke taste, but given those results it might be worth a go again for me.

Or I could just stick to Mizone/tea without sugar/tap water, but Coke is my addiction...

  • Zero is great. I don't mind the flavour at all, but it can vary a bit from batch to batch. Have been drinking it basically since it came out, but only when I'm really knackered at work and need the caffeine hit. Someone told me it has more caffeine than regular Coke, and is aimed directly at Pepsi Max.

Not surprisingly, when you use it as a mixer instead of regular coke, you get more of the flavour of the spirit you are using. Lack of sugar means it doesn't cloud the taste of the scotch/rum/whatever. Not sure how it goes with vodka....

Yip any form of coke cant really be good for you. But I got used to the taste of Coke Zero really fast, and I hate the taste of diet coke.

  • Never really tried it. Whats the taste like compared to diet coke?

I really like diet coke and find normal coke too sweeet so maybe zero may go down well with me

  • I used to be a massive coke drinker and a few summers ago I decided I was gonna drink diet drinks because I was trying to lose weight. Switched to diet coke as part of healthy eating and lost 17 kilos in 3 months. Fell in love with coke zero when it came out, tastes almost like real coke but without the rotting teeth or calories. Agree with NTA though, the taste varies hugely from batch to batch.

    In the same glass...Â

    It's Goooooooood. 😁

  • Meh, just drink espressi without sugar, you shower of poofs.Â

Diet Coke's a vice of mine I've pretty much given up on, not without a serious, serious struggle. Dilute acid can't be good for your teeth, no matter what way you slice it.  😕

Now, if I could only cut back on the insane-strength coffee I've been drinking by the bucket as a substitute, I might sleep sometime this century...Â

Espressi? Do you stick your pinky out when you drink it, poof?

  • I love zero - it must have something addictive in it even more so than Coke and Diet Coke - Diet I don't mind, real coke too sweet.

    Coke Zero - tops!!

You're the one who married into a family of Italians, hopefully they'll put manners on you yet, philistine.

Doubles usually, as I'm now virtually immune to the hit from one. My caffeine tolerance has actually reached scary levels.  😕

  • Actually, they married into me

Its taking a while to bring them around on Bundy Rum I must say :nta

  • Are you guys absolutely certain that the three cokes arent all the same thing just packaged differently like the three Duff beers (that all came out of the same pipe but were poured from seperate taps) that Homer found on the Duff Brewery tour?

Come off it Baron, there is no such thing as a Kiwi male who weighs in at 70 kgs.  Even Dan Carter is 91.

Diet Coke is seperate to any of the other drinks as it comes out of the Pipe of Evil Tasting Muck.Â

  • From my can of Coke Zero on my desk ... its sweetener component is 951 and 950

I think Diet is just the 950 ?aspartame? one ...

Real coke has the evil fattening sugar stuff ...

  • I remember now they were Duff Regular, Duff Lite and Duff Raspberry.  They all came from one vat but were poured from three seperate taps off the same pipe.

  • Personally I prefer Pepsi max to Coke Zero

But Zero is much better than diet coke or diet pepsi

  • pfft, only poofs drink non-full sugar drinks!!  :fishing:

Which might explain why I am 95kg... :shifty: actually have lost a few kg's myself, but purely from doing exercise and don't drink a great deal of that anyways, go through a few litres of water at work though a day

I was at a first aid course a few months ago and I had a 600ml bottle of coke zero during the morning session and walked in after lunch with a new bottle of coke zero. This lady, who mustve been about 130kg, standing at about 5 foot 3 said to me from across the room "another bottle of that diet stuff? dont you know diet fizzy drink causes brain cancer" So I said, "I guess brain cancer is better than ending up obese with diabetes", to muffled laughter across the room. Didnt really think about how it came across til after I sat down but I guess it explained why she didnt talk to me the rest of the course.

I am fairly sure he works out more than I do.

Most of the Year 8 primnary school kids in Te Aroha weigh 70 kilos or more.  They dont work out much either mind you!

Yeah, Coke Zero has more caffeine than normal Coke, but less than Diet Coke.

I'm also a fan of Coke Zero, and get a fair bit of shit for it from my mates. Not as much as I got when I drank Diet Coke though. I didn't like Diet Coke at first, but give yourself time to get addicted, and soon enough you'll be craving it just like you did normal coke.

Every now and then when I buy a combo they'll give me real coke by mistake. I consider taking it back, but then I get that nasty water behind the eyes thing happening and it feels so good - just a bit more, then I'll take it back. Then, oh what the hell I never get real coke, may as well make the most of it. Man I want a coke.

  • totally sold on the zero myself - had an ex flatmate who loved his fizzies and we got him on the zero versions (coke and sprite) combined with exercise he lost heaps nearly 20kg... I'm not a hot drink fan (coffee etc) but I need the caffeine to start the engine during the day...

Yeah there is also the Solo Sub which is quite low in sugar.

  • I think it tastes like crap. It tastes nearly the same as normal coke when drinking, but I can't tolerate the aftertaste.

Anyway, im completely off fizzy drinks for the first few months of my diet (unless theres booze in it).

Doesnt taste as good as original coke but least i dont feel so bad when i buy it when its on speciall at the supermarket...and tastes fine with Jack Daniels or with Rum

  • In passing, it's hell on wheels for stripping grease off things like chains and engines. Stick the offending article in Diet Coke or equivalent for a day or so, wash down with soapy water, away you go!

Not sure it's so great for humans, as a result, but what the hell...Â

  • Ive been hooked on Coke Zero for sumtime now, in the weekend i was offered a glass of 'normal' Coke and fuck me it tasted awful!

Anybody else find that too when they have gone back to normal coke?

  • yeah, real thing tastes like sugar in a bottle - which it is...

    Coke Zero rocks!

  • all the fat pricks at work drink this stuff, never been a fan of coke myself.

I went off coke for a long time, always loved it thats why i tried to avoid it! But when coke zero cam along i jumped on it!
Took a little bit to get used too but now i never go without it, mostly for the odd nip or rum or whisky  :shifty:

  • fark i'd love to see some stats on how zero is doing against regular....

just thought that when i was in the supermarket the other day and it the shelf with normal coke hadn't been touched and the zero shelf was getting near empty

must have a pretty close market share i reckon

Yeah, it seems unusual to see someone drinking normal coke now. Coke zero was marketed as a diet drink for men, it definately seems to be reaching its target audience pretty well.

If Coke played its cards right it could be a major sponsor of the fern

If given a choice I will still drink normal Coke, but at least for once, Coke Zero there is a palatable alternative, as opposed to freakin Diet Coke...
