I think this is the year Penrith don't win the comp. Still have them in the finals but all those departures and injuries have finally caught up.

Storm's comp to lose followed by the Broncos.

Bulldogs should make the top 4. Best defensive side in the comp.

Roosters are shit and the Chad should be dropped.

Never trust the Titans, even the Wahs are more reliable.

    Dragons are now Dad's army

While the Knights are definition of a 1 man team.

Eels won a game but still don't see much in them.

Dolphins with a win also, potential turning point in their season. I personally hope so as I had them in my 8 in pre season.

Cowboys unsure on still but agree with Mariner look a lot better since Clifford has come in.

Interesting week, was easier to pick the winner of the doncaster mile than it was a hd to hd winner in the NRL on Saturday

NRL related, but @Nepia might have to get used to the kiwis being the bottom of the pile of local International teams for another generation or so.

With Samoa and Tonga being "tier 2" nations, current Origin rules mean you are free to play for them without jeopardising your extremely lucrative State of Origin eligibility. NZ on the other hand is Tier 1 and so the exemption does not exist.

In the last week i have read reports that guys the caliber of Payne Haas and the Hammer are looking at playing for Samoa. With your average kiwi squad decreasing in quality every year, and the Island teams getting stronger, it doesn't look great.

The stupid thing is the Tiers don't mean anything any way, because all of the players are developed in Australia. Even the guys that come through the Warriors are really developed by playing in NSW Cup before they get to Grade. It's not like the Bartercard cup is our breeding ground.

If anything maybe this could be the starting point of removing tiers, essentially we all knew that most places outside of Qld were included in Qld origin..they can now formalise it 🙂

If they do remove it, potentially it could become an all stars event though, even if they keep the states

New Zealand Warriors provide official update on injured quartet

New Zealand Warriors provide official update on injured quartet

The New Zealand Warriors have provided an official update on the status of four injured players ahead of their Round 6 clash against the Melbourne Storm. Competing away from home in Melbourne on Sunday, outside back Rocco Berry (shoulder) has been cleared to return to the field after being a late...

@canefan heard he’s signed back at the crusaders for 2026.
Sounds like Warriors announcing a signing soon as well. Joey Manu maybe. Definitely not Kalyn Ponga.

The Eels with a Pyrrhic victory on the weekend as it's cost them Lomax for an extended sit on the sidelines. Imagine being a coach?

that was my guess to be honest, especially if Roosters pick up DCE, their sombrero will be less

still hope more than anything though

If SMH is accurate Manu wont be at the Warriors either, likely Sydney club

Thought Manu would stay loyal to the Roosters. He has also been talking about his dream of being an All Black.

I think he's playing well funnily enough, Talagi however is a massive handbrake on the Panthers attack. The amount of times Cleary creates the space for overlaps only for Talagi to refuse to let the ball go must be infuriating. I think they'll get there, but that whole left edge of Penrith are just taking a bit of time getting used to their systems on attack and defence as it's a whole new edge with 3 youngsters there. Izack Tago has also had a shocking start to the season. There's no excuse for how poor ther right edge has been, and Tago, especially on defence has been one of the main offenders.

The Dolphins, however, are starting to warm into their work. Hammer looks back to his best, Saifiti could be pushing for an origin recall, and Max Plath is also pushing hard for his first Origin callup. Averillo had a field day against an inexperienced Panthers edge.

Cleary realising how hard it is to be halfback in the NRL when you have to score more than 14 points to win...

The problem is, their attack is clunky yes, but it's because they are not gassing teams out in the grind first. Their defense is nothing like it was. Their linespeed is down. The opposition are suddenly making post contact metres. They are giving up points. So Penrith are being forced out of their system.
You throw that in with a bunch of inferior players and it's ugly.

But we shouldn't be surprised, if you take their team from the GF last year, and compare it to last night. Heaps of important players not there through transfers (Luia, Fish most especially, and Turuva) , injury (Kenny and To'o) or playing but probably not fit (Edwards, maybe Cleary).

If they can get everyone back and properly fit soon they could still make the 8, but you would think top 4 is gone now.

But that was a nice win to the Dolphins. Stuck up another 30 points, only gave up 12, of which 6 was an all-time howler Shaun Kenny-Dowell would be embarrassed by.
Hammer is starting to come good. The halves are getting better, and they have a pack that works their ass off.

Think you both covered that well. There was no grind, no Penrith pattern, team spooked into plays that were very un Penrith like. The edge defence some of the worst in the NRL that will have most teams salivating. That is not to say Farnsworth is not world class, because he is, but even Averillo was made to look good. And due to injury you also have Alamoti stuck on the wing, which then leads to him caught out of play (and Cleary takes the rap)

Talagi is not a half, no matter how much his manager wants him to be, a young talent yes, but not a half, if he keeps playing here will end like a lolohea as opposed to real half.

Love the SKD reference, think you're right Jack Bostock's try assist was right on the money lol

that's a little unfair, Averillo was very dangerous last year as well.

yeah, I keep seeing references for him getting traded and not for more money which leads me to believe, the errors outweigh the good. But he does have some good moments for sure and with good players around him can be very good.

Also to be fair I didnt call him Morgan Harper either

Yeah not a bad player in fairness. Like a slightly lesser version of Herbie Farnworth
