Super Rugby 2025

The top seed usually gets the choice of when they play, and I would think that the Saturday night slot would be preferable. That means the Friday night slot could be used for the 3rd/4th game.
We'll know who finishes 1st, 2nd and 3rd by Friday night. The Hurricanes could be going to Chch for their QF. The Raiders play on Sunday, which means that the Brumbies could host their QF game on either Friday or Saturday.

It will all play out in due course no matter what happens. I guess let's just get through this week and see where each team ends up.

I thought 3v4 was guaranteed to be played first for this very reason?

Big Bill Cavubati making the Canes props look small at training today.

Clubs need to announce their teams on Wednesday
Sure but that isn't necessarily the final run on team so kinda redundant. Not gonna keep repeating myself but would make sense especially if there are some niggles. We'll see I guess.
Exactly - the ol' "pulled up with a tight hammy during the captain's run" type of selection issue.

Shit there's a blast from the past.
Dude lost 35kg to get down to 135kg. Ridiculous.

Looking at the size comparison between him and Tosi, it looks like he's put a fair amount of weight back on. Tosi is 140kg and Cavubati makes him look small.

Predictions:
Highlanders to upset the Chiefs, who are forced to look on as Crusaders secure top spot in Canboring, later that same evening.Blues to win through into 5th, ending the Tahs' hopes for a miracle with a brutal fisting.
Moana to upset the Canes, but cruelly miss out as the Reds scrape a bonus point against a rampant Drua.

If Reds get a bonus point they secure 5th place
If Moana win without a bonus point then Blues would need to win with a bonus point to knock Moana out of 6th

Yes all your logic is lovely. But concentrate on the fisting.

If I had a dollar for every time I'd heard that.

Me too.
When the new format was announced I'd assumed that 3v4 would be first followed by 2v5, so none of those teams could afford to lose just in case #1 losses to #6.
#1 is the only team guaranteed a 2nd chance, so play their game last as the previous games are irrelevant to both teams. -
Canes by 20. The Canes are on a roll and they’ll be tough to stop. The pace the Canes are playing at will be too much IMO.
Once the points start piling on Moana will have ptsd from last week.'
Will be interesting to see if Love is okay to play after tweaking his arm at the beginning of the game on Friday.

@Canes4life how so? 9.35 kickoff like any other game. The Brumbies Crusaders game is this Friday at 9.35?

Yeah but what I'm saying is that two playoff games will be in NZ, so one of these will be played before the 3rd and 4th playoff. This game can't be the first playoff game, unless they play the two NZ games on the Saturday, and this game on Friday night.
Anyway, we don't know the results yet so no point talking about it. The Canes could quite easily be playing the Crusaders next week if they don't win in Canberra.

As my dad used to say "if we can put a man on the moon I'm sure we sort this out"

He is a Kiwi (.and he’s also Tonga). Born and schooled in Marlborough to a well known family there - Tonga got him on their radar in 2022/23 when he was still a teenager through his heritage when he’d barely left high school and was offered a chance to play at a World Cup as they had a number of injuries and the like.
There’s more egregious examples of poaching/nation switching than this - agree there are issues with using this team as a pathway but this seems like a case of a young Kiwi guy who probably didn’t know the true nature of his talents and probably wouldn’t have represented Tonga if he thought he was an All Blacks contender.
If his departure to the Chiefs is confirmed it probably allows another Pacific Island player to take his spot, who is committed to representing one of those sides.Honestly, it seems a calculated move on his part. Play at a world cup in your teens.
Dont play for them again.
Stand down period means you will be 22/23 when available for your own country
