Back and tris then rowing machine + pushups. Struggled big time with the last one but survived.

Thursday: Bit silly. Hammered legs in the morning and then went some serious cardio in the late afternoon while son had gymnastics. Normally I'd take shoulders in the morning, but the Monday day off put me behind the eight ball. That silly day meant I was pretty wrecked on Friday and had to take it easy.

Saturday: Kids had swimming at stupid o'clock so ran while they were in pool, then dropped them home and headed to the gym. Smashed shoulders and tickled arms.

Was bloody hungry in the evening and ate a whole pizza and two hungry jacks meals. Reckon I deserved that.

Thought I'd updated this, but it seems the post vanished. Should probably check the US election thread😖

Monday: Had to do a quick session before picking the boys up from school, but it was a good un. Chest and biceps.

Tuesday: Back and tris. Yeah not bad.

Wednesday: Didn't want to but hammered legs in the late evening. Finished off with 2km rowing machine with the 20 pushups at every 500m. Felt much better afterwards. Good session. Should do this every time the wife watches Gilmore Girls.

Today: Shoulders. Not bad at all. Will probably do a bit of cardio while youngest does his gymnastics thing this afternoon.

Predicting 40 degrees tomorrow so I don't think I'll be doing much outdoor running on the weekend.

    40 degrees!! Oath!

What sort of stuff are you doing for legs and back? usual stuff or mixing it up. I can't even remember if you are training off the grid/gym or mixing up between gym and home workouts. I'll try to pay more attention 😀

    @Paekakboyz

Yeah I was trying to find one that best resembled Donald Trump. I reckon that's a pretty good likeness.

Your "ignorance" is my fault for being piss weak at updating my training status. That had a bit to do with some embarrassingly crap weeks.

At the moment I'm spending more time in the gym than outside. Which is really the way I've always preferred it. I was enjoying the skipping and running, but it's just murder on the legs and knees and I have to think a bit long-term (getting old 👴🏻 ) . Obviously with the stinking hot humid Brisbane summer coming I'll be spending a fair bit of time in the pool which is always great exercise. I'm also a bit addicted to the rowing machine now and finish most workouts with it.

Anyway, back and legs is pretty standard stuff, nothing unusual. I use a squat machine, which is a pretty shameful confession in the presence of guys who live to squat and have the shoes to prove it! But I'll grow some balls one day.

Friday: Found myself at a bit of loose end since I'd already hammered each body part that week, so went for a serious arm tickle and ab work. Must have done the job because the abs were sore most of the weekend.

That was easily the best week of training I've had in a while. Adding the rowing machine gives that extra element of exhaustion that I weirdly get off on.

Rested on Saturday and then played golf on Sunday. Started early but was sweating like a mofo most of the time. Still, more fun than a run. That evening was carols and fireworks at the local oval so I spent about 3 hours walking around making sure my kids didn't kill themselves. Was farking buggered after that.

    Monday: Too tired, needed break.

Tuesday: Chest and arms. One of the biceps felt a bit weird so didn't go full pelt today, but it was still pretty good. Nice to get back into it.

Wednesday: Back and tris. Deadlifts back on the agenda. Good shit.

    Thursday: Legs. Well smashed.

Friday: Shoulders. Not bad. Bicep still a little sore so resisted arm tickle.

Saturday: Some serious cross fit. Buggered.

    Been a while.

Had a good weekend and Monday/Tuesday training. Then went down the coast on Wednesday. The gym at the hotel is pretty shit, but they have some weights and a rowing machine. Basically I've done weights then rowing machine plus pushups, then run up the stairs to room (12 floors). That farks me up enough.

Didn't do anything today but keeping 2 kids alive in the surf is pretty intense. Has been a good break and I'm pissed off I have to leave tomorrow. If (fingers and toes crossed) everything goes ok with the better half we'll move here when the boys finish school. It's an absolute paradise.

Okay week. Had some pretty ordinary eating days in a row (e.g. a packet of chicken tenders with BBQ sauce for dinner😞 ), but it's stabilised before I go ape shit tomorrow. We celebrate Christmas twice, Norwegian on the 24th, normal countries on the 25th. I'm feeling hungry just thinking about it, but must be strong.

Training also ok. The usual plus ending with rowing machine and pushups and one day of Xfit. I'm actually finding that much easier than when I used to do it a couple of years ago. Not sure what has made it easier. Maybe the rowing machine thing?

Anyway, I'll smash legs and tickle arms tomorrow morning. Calm before the eating storm!

    10 days! Damn time flies.

I'm not really proud of my eating excesses on the 24th and 25th (fark I was a hog) but I did bounce back with possibly the best workout week of the year.

    Mon: Chest, arms and rower.
Tues: Round of 18 in the glorious Qld humidity.
    Wed: Back and tris.
Thursday: Shoulders. Then headed up the coast. Spent ages in the surf with kids (waaay too many people, like farking something you see from China or India) then left family there and headed back for my annual day of peace and quiet.
Friday: Legs in morning then swimming in the afternoon. Damn this was a good day. Good training, no work, quiet, good weather, good book, good food (Thai), cricket on TV. Only negative was that I dozed by the pool and was sunburned all over my chest.
Saturday: Cross fit in the morning then headed back up the coast for NY with the family. Eldest son was hanging for more beach time so off we went. Due to sunburn I wore the wife's rash vest. It was a tight squeeze but the colour wasn't too gay. Can't say I liked wearing it though. But certainly saves a heap of sun screen application time. Anyway, spent the best part of 3 hours in the surf. Didn't make midnight and was in bed before 10.

Today: Gym packed with New Year's resolutionists. Chest, biceps, rower for me.

Tuesday: Back, tris and rower. Also trying to hit those lower abs more with weighted crunches.

Wednesday: Cross fit (15 slam ball, 15 box jumps, 10 burpees, 30 situps x 5).

Not as drilled as I might have been. Might have to up the burpees. Or maybe start timing it.

    Rowing machine: The usual 500m + 20 pushups x 4

    Pretty buggered.

Thursday: Alarm rang, pressed what I thought was snooze, but woke up an hour later. Was thinking of hitting gym that evening but didn't of course. Probably needed rest anyway.

Friday: Shoulders, legs, arm tickle. Pretty obliterated after this one. Could only manage 3 rounds of 500m on rower, but stroke rate was 35 so I reckon I deserved knocking off early. Shoulders nice and sore that evening.

    Saturday: Cross fit.

    15 deadlifts
    35 situps
    10 pushups
    75 skipping rope
    X 4

Did rooted me back in the day but I was ok this time. It would be interesting to know why. I thought I was much more hard-core back then.

Finished with the usual rowing and pushups. I was seriously farked up after that.

Sunday: We were fortunate enough to get 3 free nights at the Gold Coast plus the theme parks. Hit Wet and Wild first. At this time of year it's ridiculously crowded. I didn't enjoy it much, but the kids did and at least I was active the entire day.

Monday: No training but lots of beach. Bad eating.

Tuesday: Hit hotel "gym". Was pretty crap and far too small for a huge hotel. Managed to get in a workout of sorts. Was out in the surf for ages with eldest. Kodak moment stuff.

Hilarious viewing tonight. We ate dinner at the hotel restaurant which is outside and a level below the "gym" which is all glass windows. So most diners look straight up into the "gym". The guys working out must have thought the glass was tinted, because they were shirtless and flexing. Farking tools.

Back from coast on Wednesday after a whole day at Movie World. Absolute worst time of the year to be there. Packed and farking hot.

I was pretty active on this little trip away but the eating was really crape. Body not happy.

Wanted to train on Thursday but had a fair bit of work to do and it was farking farking hot.

Friday: Back in the saddle. Good shoulder and arm workout. Felt nice.
    Saturday: Crossfit - 50 kettle bell swings, 15 rows, 10 pushups, 100 box steps, 15 tricep pulldowns x 3

This did me over good. Followed that up with the rowing machine + pushups but stopped after 3 because I felt I deserved it and (probably more importantly) I was absolutely gone.

Again ridiculously hot so spent a fair bit of time in the pool. Those damn water dragons have made themselves way too much at home and are using the pool as a toilet. I'm a big fan of their but I think I might have to buy some rubber snakes to scare them off if they continue to shit in my pool.

Sunday: Work unfortunately. Got one of those Fitbit things as an early birthday present which is pretty cool. My goal of 10,000 steps was way off today and I only managed a paltry 3,500. I'll be very interested to see how this thing reads other activity such as weights and the rowing machine.

Is it one of the fancier ones bro? My missus has a middle of the road one that does steps but also tracks sleep patterns etc. If you had a heart rate one it can probably track the activity from weights and the rowing machine. You want to make sure you get digital recognition for the rowing in particular.

That heat sounds feral bro - has been hot (by Wgtn standards) and humid in Wellies and it makes for lots of sweating!

Have you got a few different Kettlebells? I'm tempted to buy some for home but can't settle on the best mix of weights.

To be honest mate I'm not sure where it stands on the fancy scale. I think it's fairly standard (i.e. calories, steps, distance). The wife has the app on her phone because I'm one of two people in the world with a Windows Phone. I might have a better look at the functions tonight. It's pretty neat to have.

My gym has pretty crap kettlebells which they only got in just recently. Heaviest is 12kg. Ok if doing huge numbers of reps but not if you want to lift heavy. Not sure what the best mix is. They're pretty damn expensive aren't they? I guess you'll be needing a half-decent home gym now that your freedom of movement has been drastically curtailed.

After 12 years in Norway I usually live for the heat, but sometimes it just goes the full sauna here. It's not as bad today but is apparently going to get worse by the end of the week. I'm usually a Hitler-Stalin when permitting use of the aircon but I've cracked big time.

2 weeks! I be slack as shit.

Training has actually been going well and eating not bad at all.

Last week started off crap with no time to train on Monday, but I managed to get myself out at 10:30 in the evening on Tuesday and Wednesday. Perhaps it was the time and because I was so pissed off at having been stuck inside, but these two days were pretty damn good. Problem with training that late is that you get to sleep way too late and that is of course suit.

Thursday was public holiday but 50 metre pool was open and did laps with eldest. That was a nice way to complement the previous 2 days.

    Friday smashed shoulders.

Saturday: Crossfit (4 x 15 deadlifts, 30 situps, 15 pushups, 75 skips) then rowing machine plus pushups. Was well knackered. Then I went to mow the grass, but my lawnmower died so borrowed my Dad's. I have (or had) a shitty electrical one with a chord so having Dad's petrol beast was very liberating. I not only did my lawn my both my neighbours as well.

My son then had a swimming time trial. Since the only other kids trialling were midgets I asked if I could swim against him to ensure his time was good enough. They were nice enough to allow that, so 20 or so kids and parents witnessed me getting beaten by an 11 year old. But, his time was good enough, so on to the district championships he goes! I slept pretty well that night.

Sunday: Long walk, lunch, long walk back. Had the boys doing some rugby training which was nice. Looks like I have a flanker and a winger. Not bad.

Today: Was in a bit of a rush so supersetted chest and biceps. Went pretty well.

On the eating side, I've found a much easier way to eat heaps of chicken breast which I was getting heartily sick of. Basically I just cut it up into tiny pieces. Add some cashew nuts, pumpkin and very small amounts of feta cheese and I'm hoovering that suit.

    True dat.

Great mate of mine is like that. Every time I see him he talks up his training strategy, his fitbit etc. but never does anything and complains about being fat. He's an awesome guy but damn is he all talk. No kids or commitments either so he should be a beast.

Another mate of mine is obese and just married a girl who is also huge. She now has a blog called the body confidence society and feels the need to tell everyone how she doesn't care about going to the beach. The thing is, that body confidence stuff should be for healthy people with normal bodies who shouldn't feel afraid about wearing togs because they're not models. It isn't for dangerously overweight people who try to justify their complete lack of effort. Both will be diabetics soon and I will have zero sympathy.

Another thing is that people are after a silver bullet and seem to think those 12 week challenges are all that's required. Not good.
