    After a week of near incapacitation thanks to a head cold, stomach bug and stuff you guys will never have to worry about, (lucky bastards) I did a workout today, focused mainly on upper legs and lower abs/glutes. May well now be out for another week, ye gods my muscles hate me right now.

    I love it when my muscles hate me - I'm expecting a few hate messages from my legs tomorrow too...<br />

    You obviously did not follow the whisky advice....

    it's a glorious pain though! nothing like knowing you've really pushed yourself... well at least until you have to walk, pick something up or bend over the next day!! Now you are on the mend crack back into it, a week or so out won't put you back much.

    Nah, not heaps, I tried to keep my fluids up but my food intake was pretty limited over the week. When you feel like ratshit and have to dash to the loo frequently, you arent eating bad stuff! (Or sipping the whiskey, Bart!)<br />
    <br />
    I revelled in the burn for about five minutes Paekak, but I'll wake up tomorrow with the mobility of a 90 year old.

    lol I hear ya! it's funny in a sick kind of way that no matter how fit/strong etc you get you always aim to train yourself into the ground. The goal is that feeling of tiredness/satisfaction after working hard. No matter if you were lifting 5kg or 45kg!

    How's this for positive reinforcement.<br />
    <br />
    Went on a bus trip on Friday night, stand up to get another drink and not only does my ass get slapped but the announcement is (loudly) made that it is getting tight. Next thing I know questions are being fired at me from everyone in the last few rows, what am I doing, how long has it taken, how much have I lost, blah blah etc etc. I was also informed that the jeans I got only 2 months ago are too loose (apparently they should be practically painted on) and I need to invest in another new pair.<br />
    <br />
    Gees this weight loss/toning malarky is bloody expensive but good to know it's noticeable, ha ha.

    Well I know when the exact same thing happened to me I just... ahem!<br />
    <br />
    That is classic Mokey! Nothing like some comments/encouragement from people not involved with the training/gym etc to really boost ya. Or goose ya as the case may be.

    Yeah, lol. I barely knew most of them but topics zoom into up close and personal when everyone is on the booze! <br />
    <br />
    Went for a 4km walk today, temperature was brisk but nothing better to clear the head.

    For something a little different I went to a Zumba class tonight. Two thoughts. <br />
    <br />

    1. Fuck I'm unco.<br />
    2. If you attended those a few times a week and did the moves properly you'd have abs of steel.

    Zumba again tonight although its way too fast for me. Nice change from the gym though, think I got a bit 'all gymed out' there for a while. Hopefully schedule will settle down a bit from next week so I can actually exercise and sleep instead of just the three jobs.

    lol missed the first Zumba post. Figure I'd be exactly the same if I went to the same type of class at my gym!<br />
    <br />
    While sleep is mucho important hitting the gym does give you more energy overall - if you are getting stale then try and mix it up. When I was initially doing a new programme I'd try and stick to it religiously - now I'm quite happy to swap exercises around to keep things interesting. It all adds up in the end.<br />
    <br />
    ps you've got to keep that party bus crowd happy now!!

    Yeah that may well be the problem - just bored! Might get the demon ass kicker to come up with some new moves for me to butcher, otherwise I'll be fitting those damn jeans, lol.<br />
    <br />
    On a side note, does anyone do boxing training? My gym offers it, but I've never tried it. What is it best for?

    Good timing - have just got back into boxing at my gym. Used to do a Saturday morning session back in the day with my mate. Running is still off the menu for me at the moment so I was looking at other cardio options. I went to a boxing class last wed and had a blast. Went again this week to and will be making it a regular addition to my workouts. Once a week at this stage but I might head along to the Sat class again too.<br />
    <br />
    It is heaps of fun! great for cardio, muscle endurance and stress! not to mention you'll be able to deal to any bottom pinchers with a straight cross - a better comeback than a Zumba move lol! <br />
    <br />
    The class I attend pairs you up with another person - you alternate through bag work and focus mitts. Build up combos, focus on technique and basically sweat buckets. There are heaps of girls in the class so no worries about it being a macho scene either. Reckon there are a few chicks in the class that'd put me on my arse quick smart. Pretty sure at least one is fighting at some decent sort of level. I pity the fool that gives her shit at a club on Courtney place in the weekend - smacko!

    Yeah hitting bags is farkin fun, no doubt about it. Make sure the hands a nicely wrapped though. Always satisfying putting a decent dent in the heavy bag just make sure the wrists are properly aligned too !!

    Just got home from my first boxing class. My knuckles are raw and I don't know if I'll be able to lift my arms tomorrow, but I absolutely bloody loved it. Learned jabs and crosses and hooks and kicks. Got paired with the instructor for a bit - even got some praise: "I thought you'd hit like a girl, but you're all right."<br />
    <br />
    Definitely the group fitness class for me.

    Doh, boxing wraps are key to avoiding the raw knuckles. They also support your wrists just in case you hit at a funny angle. <br />
    <br />
    You'll be feeling it in your back tomorrow as much as your arms!! It's great fun though

    hell yeah! you reach for something and aggh!! ha ha good news is that after a couple of sessions you'll be sweet as. The real enjoyment comes once you have a better idea of technique - including twisting your body and getting light on your toes. Then you'll be hitting the bag with some extra venom! kapow!
