@Stargazer said in Mitre 10 Cup - news, injuries etc:

As posted in the Magpies forum: Hawke's Bay have signed Pasqualle Dunn, Nick Palmer, Cardiff Vaega and TJ Vaega.

TJ Vaega - poached out of the Auckland colts! I'll be very interested to watch him this year.

    @Tim

Good move by NH recruiting some experienced guys.

Are you confident they are going to stay up? What would your XV be?

I think poaching is a bit strong, I think the Magpies recruiting this year has been close our eyes and throw a dart at a bunch of names. Clearly, the fact we're bringing in an Aussie lock has meant we threw a dart at the Crusaders recruiting list by accident as well.

Maybe the two brothers came as a package. Their dad played for the Magpies, too, in 1991. Next year, they'll want Matt, too, and then we have our own trio of brothers. 🙄 🤦🏽♂

That Sydney North's jersey looks suspiciously like a Canterbury jersey.

    I'll make an attempt..

I'm going to assume that the new recruits have been signed for a reason and will be in the starting XV.

    Except Volavola. He is shit.

    1 Chris Eves
    2 James Parsons
    3 Sione Mafileo
    4 Gerard Cowley-Tuioti
    5 Brandon Nansen
    6 Jarrad Hoeata
    7 Connor Collett
    8 Murphy Taramai
    9 Bryn Hall
    10 Bryn Gatland
    11 Tevita Li
    12 George Pisi
    13 Matt Vaega
    14 Matt Duffie
    15 Shaun Stevenson

They've covered the loses reasonably well ( Vui, Little, McGahan and I presume Mayhew)

@Stockcar86 They could also achieve that by signing Jacob Lowe (if he's still playing for Clive). I think he's played age grade for the Bay (not sure)?

Stopped watching this Shield game. Even as an opposed training run this can't be of much use to Canterbury. The difference between both teams is just too big.

Canterbury lead 40-0 after 50 minutes.

According to Stuff, Waikato have signed Pita Ahki. Nothing on Waikato website or social media, yet.

    Stephen Donald hasn't re-signed yet.

@Crash Don't know. None of the articles I've read about him mention the brothers. Here's a bit of info about him (from September 2015):

Looks like Auckland won its pre-season match in against Sanix last night 31-17

A handful of decent players at Sanix - Geoff Parling, Karne Hesketh, Jacques Potgieter

No info yet on the Auckland lineup or who scored
