Was doing some dips while on holiday and one of my sons decide to come up underneath me and smash me in the stomach. Obviously my body reacted violently to this and in the ensuing convulsions I felt a sharp pain in my upper right tit. It was throbbing for a few hours but I iced it and it seemed ok for a week or so until I had chest day at the gym. It was ok at the start but the throbbing gradually got worse and while its not really painful I'm worried it could get worse. I have no problems when training other body parts.

Does anyone have any experience from pec problems? Is it ok to keep training the chest but with lighter weights or is it best to rest the chest completely? Have a full check up with the doc next week but until then am unsure wtf to do.

Any input would be muchos appreciated.

My sympathies, injuries suck. It's wise to do dips carefully, they place a lot of pressure on shoulders-or in this case, your chest. I imagine you may have tilted your bodyback when doing them-whereas I try to keep strict and more vertical. Hence, you must have made quite an inviting target for the youngster.
Anyway, joking aside, I hope you recover quickly and it's not too painful. My advice-res tit till you see the doctor, and probably res tit afterwards. Just be patient. Second advice: do more pull ups in the meantime.

I'd rest until it stops hurting, or at least until you see the doctor. You don't want to "finish it off" and get a longer, more serious injury.

Then just ease back into it exercising the affected area with body weight exercises to start off with. I'm always overly cautious with stuff like that (and by the way, my daughter used my stomach as a trampoline a month ago, felt like I had damn near broken a rip for a week. Kids huh).

Get it checked out bro - much better to know what you're dealing with than hope that a bit of rest solves it.

train until you bust, harden up.

nah, seriously, yeah, lighten the load, if it hurts, don't do it. The pain of working really really hard and the pain of injury are two different things, and injury pain says stop!! So see Doc etc. Doing the right things by the sounds of it though, sounds like muscle or maybe tnedon / ligament damage, so all you'll be able to do IS rest.

Cheers for that fellas. Did shoulders and biceps today with no probs. Chest day tommorrow so will see how it goes. Will stop at the slightest hint of pain. A real bitch because I love smashing the chest and its certainly one of my strong points.

Its funny, I've been doing weights for over 10 years and have never had anything worse than a slight strain. No matter how careful you are you can never take into consideration wild kids and cars (in Bart's case).
Ouch. Yeah they don't seem to consider that we can break. The same day my eldest caused this injury my youngest smashed me in the balls. That was a really shit day.

Nope its farked. Was ok with light incline BP but flat bench causes problems. Luckily it coincides with my annual checkup but I still farking hate being injured and hate going to the doctor.

Anyone have any idea how long it should be rested?

Might be 'piece of string' territory there bro. See what the doc says - the interesting part will be what exercises they recommend you avoid to give it a rest. Might be some stuff that doesn't hurt but it still slows recovery.

And a smack in the nuts!! lol your little monkeys had it in for ya!

Hope you get a good diagnosis and a have a quick recovery. Take the time to get it right - you'll be shifting tin again in no time!

Very sensible advice there. Will just have be patient I guess. Hopefully nothing too bad.
Yes my boys love to beat me up. Normally I have an early warning system when they approach the nut sack region but it failed on this occasion.
