BOP v Magpies

We were terrible, but shit, some dodgy calls by this Auckland ref and his mates.
There were a few but lets be honest, they did not cost us the game.

I was at that game in Waihi I think. Colin Bourke playing at fullback saved us by kicking all his penalties
-
Was that the one that finished something like 35 all? If not then the one I am thinking about happened at McLean Park. It definitely was not the game you I and Mr Bump went to in Te Aroha (the one we turned up and had a beer in Paeroa only to discover the venue had changed late in the piece when we were about to depart the pub for the game - ten minutes before kick off) as that was a Vikings fixture from memory - they had a lucky escape that day. I refuse to call the Vikings "my team"!

Going by the trusty Rugby Almanack's ....
The high scoring game at Napier you're thinking of was in 1999 (the year after the Central Vikings) when HB lost 34-36. There has never been a draw between HB and Thames Valley. A future All Black by the name of Keith Robinson played lock for Thames Valley that day.
The following year HB won 12-8 at Paeroa when Antony Papenfus kicked 4 penalty goals.
The game where Colin Bourke kicked the penalty goals was at Waihi in 2003 when HB won 19-13 - he kicked 4 penalty goals and a conversion. This is the last game played between the two teams.
We were second best and second rate tonight.

@Number-10 Oh hell you are right, it was a loss now you have brought back the nightmare (I vividly recall turning up at the TAB to redeem my ticket for a HB half time/full time double without actually having heard the result and telling the TAB operator in Courtenay Place there must be something wrong when she declined to pay out!)
You could also be correct about the other game as I know we turned up in the town where the game was scheduled to be played only to discover we were in the wrong town and had to hot foot it to get to the ground. I may have got the venues wrong, it was a long time ago, but do know we were lucky to get out of it with a win.

That was pretty stupid from Rakete-Stones, he doesn't just look like Clint Newlands
He's just a 20 y.o prop so let him have a few games behind him before giving such a cruel sentence !

Missed the game....but seriously all I heard was our loosies got smoked. I can tell you I would rather an old Karl Lowe at 6 or 7 then a lock who played well at lock the week before. Fuck sakes

That's part of the problem, throwing in a 20 year old and expecting him to play like a 25 year old prop. A lot of the young props struggle against their more experienced and mature opponents. I hope this is taken into consideration when setting salary levels. I would not pay an apprentice at the tradesman rate, unless of course they are producing tradesmans output.
