Most Capped Test Team of All Time
-
I have been doing some googling and can't seem to find any collated figures around this one. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
If nothing is around I may work my way through some suggestions and create an article.
I am thinking that the AB 2015 RWC Final team must be close and also the England 2003 one. Nothing else springs to mind unless there was a slightly different version of either of these that ran out in another game. -
I'd have to back @Duluth as I vaguely recall the RWC final team being talked about in those terms
-
Ha! Thinking about it Joe Moody may have ruined that though. Wasn't he a late call up? Was Woody in that Argie game?
-
@duluth having said that, without doin any real research, and if were only talking the XV, there's 14 other starters who potentially had another 5 or 6 games each ... 6 x 14 = 84 ... may not make up for the loss of Woody?

According to my numbers (and I haven't double checked that I have only counted tests and not all games) the Argentina game pips the final
Going into the Argie game the 23 players had 1336 caps between them.
The 3 player changes equalled -103 caps which was almost made up for by Booboos formula above. Even if the other 20 all had an extra 5 caps (and some didn't) that's a max of 100.

Final Pool game vs Tonga could be a shot. Similar side as Argentina but with 3 tests worth of caps in between.
Naholo for Savea drops it somewhat but the higher capped Kerr-Barlow, Franks and Messam replaced Peranara, Faumauina and Vito.
edit: saw Crucial beat me too it - but also that I missed McCaw out which makes a big difference.
