Outstanding is going overboard .. they've been on the end of some towellings and if Luke doesn't play, or doesn't fire, then they're in big trouble.
They have, however, definitely shown some improvement.

It's completely different. Kearney is in his second year as coach. Umaga has already had 3 years of failure.
Oh, and 7th place on the ladder is hardly "outstanding"

@number9 the blues board need to sack themselves, but we know that wont happen, too much self interest.
So you think 3 years of failure, and finishing in the worst position in year 3 is enough to retain ones position?

The bumbling nincompoop of a former head coach is still there ... don't give the board too much credit.
It is not outstanding for the Warriors to be 7th, they should comfortably be a top 8 team regularly.

@taniwharugby No I don't believe it is acceptable. However, changes should have been made after Year 2, which is the Boards decision.

He's been coaching in the region with North Harbour and the Blues Development team so has a very strong knowledge of the current playing group

Blues scrum coach Ben Afeaki is also North Harbour scrum coach so has worked with Coventry

Akira Ioane seemingly staying for 2019. You have to wonder if knowledge that there would be a new forwards coach was a huge factor in this.

@kiwimurph Also, re Akira staying, it smells of NZR having their hand in keeping the Ioane Bro's in Auckland (IMHO of course).
@number9 Regardless, the Warriors should always be top 8, also it's silly suggest that sacking the assistants are the key reason for the improvement (so far) at the Warriors this year. The obvious improvement has come from Luke's form and Green's arrival.

True, but I'll bet any Blues fan on here would take that result for the 2019 Blues!
But I bet they wouldn't call it "outstanding" though. That would still be behind all the other NZ teams.
