TR vs the future

So a whole heap of things (weather, kids sports, Course Work, lame excuses) conspiring to stop me from exercising at moment, but once you get back on the horse it's always good.
Did a good workout on Sunday and also yesterday, body really struggling today, tight muscles everywhere, shoulder not hindering any exercises, although problem shoulder a bit tighter than the other today.
Also need to get back to do a bit of running, despite not really enjoying running (well road running) always feel the benefit of it.
Hovering around 94kg at moment, which is where I want to be, so is about redistributing the weight as bit better

bought myself a 9m battle rope today.
5 sets of 40 secs and I was fucked! Add in burpee/box jumps, sumo squats, knee raises and then some sprints on the treadmill and the body is aching already.

I've never had a go on battle ropes but definitely something I'd be into.
Have you got any big trees on your property? You can do rope climbs too. They're always a hit on social media.

@mn5 nah when we bought the section about 5 years back, it was a completely bare sheep paddock...while I have a number of trees up about 6m already, none with high enough and strong enough to put ropes on them.
I use the massive swing just down the road from where I live. By the time my trees grow on my land in foxton I'll be too old to climb rope.

First run since about May I think...pretty comfortable (flat) run, although need to find the setting yo turn off the voice that kept telling me to slow down

That's a fairly solid effort TR. Especially when you consider 10.15 for 2.4 km would get you in the Police in the late teens/early 20s bracket. Great work.

@mn5 TBF, the police run isnt that tough, when I did it about 4 years ago, I did it 11.10mins for it, which was a couple of mins under for my age IIRC (amusingly it was my birthday the day before which pushed me up a bracket and gave me an extra 40 sec or so I didnt need haha)
It was a flat run too, which makes it easier, but a bit boring, cant wait for the longer days when I can do trail running in the evenings (while waiting for my kids to do after school stuff)

I think you're being a bit modest. I hate running with a passion and it took me all I had to get anywhere near the required level. Of course my piston wristed gibbon mate could do about 3km in 8 minutes or something ridiculous but he was my height and about 65kg ( and obviously freakishly good at running, I think the closest AB to that time was Caleb Ralph? )

@mn5 ha, funnily though, I was amused with the number of people (30 or so) that turned up for the PT, and of the 'new' ones (not those that failed one part first time they did it) only me and another guy passed, cos it aint like it is a surprise, the required levels are on thier website when you apply, and I didnt feel they were that hard if you have done a bit of work beforehand.
SOme of the people missed the run by minutes FFS or could barely do 10 push ups, I had to do 34 I think, and the guy was being strict as and I ended up doing about 40 cos he reckoned I wasnt doing them properly (but I reckon he was being a buggar!)

I found the relative stricntness of the push ups a bit of an eye opener too to be honest. When doing them as perfect as possible 34 goes from piss easy to a wee bit of a challenge.

@mn5 I am not a big runner, I enjoy trails, but only road run as I know it is better for me than doing nothing when thats the only option (trail running in dark takes on a whole new challenge)...
I have run longer than 10km 3 times ever, and longer than 20km 1 time only and that was 2 years ago and lots of it you can only walk anyway...my brother who I dont think has run much at all, although is built better for it than me, signed up for the Taupo Ultra Marathon a couple of months back and is now banging out 2 or 3 20km+ per week!
Initially I had suggested we could run together, but that would be way to much running for me!
-
haha, when you get asked to play your first game of touch rugby in forever (with mostly players whose level far exceeded yours...)
Ave heart rate was higher than it gets when I go for a run for much longer!
-
I should add that playing touch is a pre-cursor for some Golden Oldies I have been roped into.
At TR Jnr's prozegiving they were talking about it, and TR Jnr is like, hell yeah, my dad is keen as...nek minut I signed up.
So he is now like 'now I get to see if you can walk the walk...'
Are a few high quality players gonna be turning out too, fortunately, the ones I know of, will be in my team!
-
been quite active of late, bit more running, working out and touch 1 or 2 times a week, despite this weight has gone up to 96kg, but my guess is this has coincided with the warmer weather and consuming a few more brews than usual.
Will be having my first game of golf in about 18 months in a fortnight, then the following day playing rugby...1st game in 13 years I think?
-
did a good work out on Sunday, deadlifts, squats, press ups, bicep curls and ab rollers with that wheel thing (all with high reps, lower weight)
Abs were fucked, couldnt do pull ups on Monday, legs still sore on Tuesday when I went for a 4km run.
Got touch tonight, legs still a bit tight.
96.5kg this morning...bit annoying I am going up not down.
-
Man you cover some ground playing touch, almost 3km on half hour, just about died tonight! Haha
-
Cool to have the stats and maps. Touch is basically shuttles with sprints adding in!! 👍
-
smashed out a bit of a workout at the hotel on Saturday.
Did a row on a COncept 2 machine, 1000m in 3.48 and was FARKED!
Then did a 2km run on treadmill and finished with a 1min sprint at 20kmh (according to treadmill) and hit the sauna!
Yesterday did a work out with rope pull ups (cheating) weighted box step ups, beginner handstand push ups, shoulder circles, run 1km.
