Hell, were the Taranaki guys on a piss trip or did they have about three or four red cards awarded against them? 94 - 00 against any opposition indicates a serious mismatch or maybe BoP might just be having one of those years where all the stars and planets are in line for them.

Nah BOP are just very strong this year. Bound to happen more regularly, the population has exploded and numbers have grown faster than any other region.

Also chatting to someone very much in the know with BOP rugby and he said that Super 8 (and other regions equivalents) have distorted the strength of rugby.
Apparently only Rotorua Boys offer schilarships for rugby in BOP, Tauranga Boys doesn't offer anything to anyone. TBC is still a magnet school obviously, but BOP rugby works hard to promote college rugby at other non 'flagship' schools. So whilst TBC sruggles in super 8, it is because they dont go out and hunt down players to fill gaps from 'lesser schools'. If they have a lack of props... they have a shite scrum that year, no good outside backs... they aint scoring many tries out wide. But it also means that the competition level under these elite schools is not to shabby in BOP, which leads to a wider pool of players to select from. Dont get me wrong RBHS and TBC are still a big level above though.
Hamilton Boys High dominates every year, but the standard elsewhere in the Waikato is pretty low. If HBHS are short of a prop, they go out and offer a scholarship.... hey presto good scrum.

It gets pretty dull fast having HBHS number 1 and Number 2 team dominating the Hamilton Schools comp or what ever comp it is in that has St Pauls and the like.

    Waikato U19s beat Counties Manukau U19s 44-0.

Depending on other commitments I'll try to watch the Waikato vs BOP game this Sat.

@chris-b I only recognise Caleb Havili (cousin of David and Willi) and Humphrey Sheild (2017 Napier Boys 1st XV and NZ Schools). Some other names look familiar, but I can't quite remember from what (maybe Junior Knights?).

@stargazer On Ta$man Rugby Union's facebook page they've got all four teams playing this weekend. Most interesting for me is the B team to play Otago, since it gives a fair idea of the next cabs off the rank inb case of injury.
