If you can find it, I highly recommend the recording of his broadway show "Ricky Jay and his 52 assistants"

He flew dive bombers off a carrier during world war 2 and was shot down once .
That’s pretty bloody badass imho .

@bovidae Utu is my favourite, but then again it was filmed in the Bay and a bunch of my family are in it (lots in the Church scene, it's the church at Waipatu marae where I was christened, and a few as part of Te Wheke's gang) and their commune at Waimarama is right next to the marae.

That was a great era for kiwi films, smash palace , the race for the yankee zephyr, battletruck .
I had a Battletruck T shirt and my Dad took my sister and I to see it - there mustn't have been age restrictions back then.
It had John Ratzenberger ( Cliff Clavin from Cheers ) in it oddly enough. Probably hasn’t aged as well as mad max though.
