Taylor continuing where the little master left off and looking good. Latham knuckling down as he has all day.

She's a good day to be a Black Caps fan.

We seem to have a weird hold on the Lankans, particularly over here. Not sure why, but will take it!

There has never been a better time to support this Test side - ever. These guys are remarkable and winning serious games all over the place

Raval and Latham seem to have forgotten they are decent players and reverted to the 'shit opener' Black Cap stereotype. Both owe the team some runs so KW and Rossco can put the feet up for a bit.

Great work Latham and to a lesser extent Raval.

Obviously you read my post so I can't help but feel I can share in the glory a little bit ?

I've got a theory that Tom Latham relaxes a bit when his opening partner gets out before he does - largely based on my own experiences opening the batting.

Hence, I think he possibly quite liked batting with Guppy and batting with someone like Raval, who makes a lot of middling scores might not get the best out of Tom.

    Is that you Mark Richardson?

    I loved you on CGW

    Hardly surprising really.

3 x top 10 ever bowlers and 2 x top 5 ever batsmen in the same team, and possibly our best ever keeper batsman.

It feels awesome to be confident about our ability!

    Massive call.

The rest sits pretty nicely although are you saying Ross Taylor ( just got a nice fifty ) is only our 5th best ever ? Personally I'd say 3rd....

    So, best case scenario?

350+ lead by drinks last session tomorrow. 2.5 sessions to roll them? (5th day weather an issue?)

Well it all depends on where you draw the line between Mccullum the keeper/batsman and the batsman solely I guess. I forget lots of his runs were scored when he was in there purely as a specialist.

@booboo I am interested in who the other two Batsmen apart from KW and Crowe who are better than Taylor too....

Had a near perfect late afternoon.
Sun shining, beer in one hand, steering the mower with the other, earphones in listening to the cricket.
Ruined only by Kane getting out.

But what a day for the Caps. Is it greedy to want more of the same tomorrow?

Well 3rd is in the top 5.

Also have provided my rationale for BJ elsewhere

BJ v Baz as a batsman as keeper then BJ wins. Also check out the c. Keeper b. Bowler combos. I know that's more about the bowler but how often and how high up does c. Watling appear?

Fair call. Again, the rose tinted glasses means I forget that BMac gave up keeping many years before he actually retired.

Watling continues to make a massive claim though, I suspect he'll leave a huge hole when he retires.

The thing about Watling is he shows the limitations of pure statistics. He makes clutch runs for us, when we need them to save games, or put us back in them. So different to bullying a tired bowling attack when we're already 200 in front (ha ha ha, like that ever used to happen :D)

Haddin did that for Aus for a while as well; rescued them so often. Fark, I hate Haddin

Well that was a pretty solid day. Sri Lanka are a limited team these days, but great to see us continue on from the UAE and put them to the sword.

I'm not a fan of bowling first, but you can get away with it against teams you plan to only bat once agsinst.

Perfect chance for the guys to pad their averages.

SL lost two guys from their test team, two all time greats in any era let alone a team like that. It's worse for them than us losing KW and Rossco.

So based on that logic we should put them to the sword in this series well and truly......

I love the Black Caps, but I used to joke about how our batters didn't get to play against our bowlers to pad their averages 🙂

A Test Run is a Test Run. Doesn't matter if it's against SL or Bangles or Australia - they all count. Just some make you more of a legend than others. Really enjoying cricket from 11am to 10pm as well. The family may not be, but I sure as shit am 🙂 There's even time to see a Rocket Lab launch live as well. Good times!
