So I see Andrew Fifita (among others) is getting stuck into Fox Sports over a promo of some sort that combines Hunts' clanger vs the Warriors this weekend with his GF pearler. Something about his mental health. Now, I have a lot of empathy for those struggling with mental health but the crux of this issue is a player is telling the media off for being mean to a fellow player. Presumably Hunt has battled with his mental health - publicly or not, I wouldn't know as I don't follow the sport that closely - but does Fifita mean the media can only report positively about a player in case they have a mental health issue? He's a munter and I don't think he put a lot of thought into the practicality of this practice or even a passing thought into the alternative perspective of the media. Whether they're aware or not of a players' mental state, how are they supposed to report honestly and factually without being critical of individuals? Ludicrous to expect that. Jeez, Bryan Fletcher would be bereft of material for those humourous segments he does which feature a series of things like knock ons, high hits, late hits, coat hangers, missed sitters etc etc. Should he be called out for showing Justin Hodges' horror show behind the posts in State of Origin, just in case Hodges is suffering mental health issues? Wheer would it end?

Interesting debate blowing up though. What does everyone think?

It comes with the territory (and the bucks). As long as they don't make it personal, focus on the performance. If he doesn't want the media criticism he could go do a real job

That's my position on it also. I kind of feel like Fifita was projecting a little.

Hard to comment without seeing the video. It was an instagram post that they deleted isn't it? Maybe the tone was really dickish?

It was a mash up of his 2015 GF clanger and the one on Saturday against the Warriors. Saw a bunch of players comment on it including James Gavet.

My take is how can you not talk about it - it's one of the most famous errors in GF history and essentially is what Hunt is remembered for in Brisbane. You could read his face after the drop that he knew what we were all thinking.

It's funny because I read a couple of quotes from him this morning about that incident.

Being a crowd in Brisbane, when he dropped that drop out there was at first cheers or groans, followed by nervous laughter and "oh poor ben" I actually think there is a fair bit of sympathy for him in the league public.

And apparently he heard it. Says it doesn't really affect him, he catches hundreds a year, he's going to drop a couple. But maybe it might against the Cowboys...

Seems he's in a decent place with it
