50 Years of Star Trek - RIP

Rebecca Romijn (as Pike's 1st officer) was only on-screen for about 2 minutes. You've gotta wonder how much money they wasted on her.
An expensive burger.
Seriously, they have hidden a much better show with Pike, number one and Spock in the cast. Even the Enterprise looked fantastic, and the retro uniforms looked ace.
It made everything they were doing look second best.

@Kirwan Did you watch the Orville season finale?
Some nice Star Wars bits.
Yes, I really enjoyed it. Have a bad feeling (see what I did there..) that was a series finale as opposed to a season finale.
Hope I’m wrong.
They did the time travel thing pretty well, and improved the character depth at the same time. Just so well written.
And I didn’t realise they were using models for the ships and then adding CGI glitz. Explains why it looks so good.

@Kirwan Another fun episode from a show that has come a long way.
Apparently MacFarlane recently said on a talk show something like this: "We went over budget this season, but I've still got a job." So I'm hopeful.
He makes billions for Fox for the Family Guy, they should let him build another franchise. Could make a lot of money in merchandise.
Imagine the stories he’ll be up to in season 4/5?

@Tim unbelievable really. Interesting to hear them articulate why I liked the episodes I did. Classic old style trek episode structure.
Same with why Pike worked.
With all the Trek nerds out there, seems kind of obvious to hire a few on the writers staff

The Episode 1 podcast does Star Trek. Funny stuff.
Starfleet Captain Pavlok commands the USS Entrepreneur with his officers Databyte, Foodie LaGeorge, and Worfer as they embark on a diplomatic mission to Orc Prime to negotiate with the orcs who have been stealing copper from Starfleet.
