    is good fun some lower splits sprint work for a change.<br />
    <br />
    I have joined an on line rowing team through the concept 2 website, some bloke emailed and asked me to join.  Anyway, there are some real rowing maniacs out there.  I have almost cracker 600,000 metres for the season in 72 odd days or whatever it is.  But get this, the top guy in our 'team' has rowed, wait for it...  <br />
    <br />
    4.2 MILLION metres, ans is aiming for 20 million for the season.  This bloke is 69 and all!!<br />
    <br />
    but is way cool having a few memeber to challenge and times to beat - I have the best time over 6k, otherwise in the top few with most distances.  2 second out on the 500m challenges, hence the attempts tonight!!

    <br />

    Weighed myself last night actaully, first time for a few weeks.  100kg on the nose.  SO after a hard out row, no doubt would be down to 97 or so.,  A genuine flyweight now!!

    big day at the oars today, did a 6000m row at lunch on home rower, 21:55.4, which is a pretty  hard 1:49.5 / 500.<br />
    <br />
    Theeeeen at the gym tonight, did a 30 minute row, and clocked in 8355m, (1:47.7/500) which is 39 metres short of PB set a couple of days ago.  WOuld have landed it too I reckon if not had rowed hard out at lunchtime.<br />
    <br />

    DO you have back problems? Is rowing a bad exercise if you have back issues?

    <br />
    Correct technique the key - make sure you're doing it right, then let rip...<br />
    <br />
    Keith Robinson rows up a storm by all accounts, and he has had a pretty bad back, so should be fine.  Just do it right Toad!!

    👏 You are an inspiration Bart. But sadly not enough of an inspiration to get me back into a full-on regime.  <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' />

    Bart, do you count your metres rowed from the moment you stop pulling on the 'oars' or when the flywheel has stopped?<br />
    <br />
    I noticed there is a difference.

    you set it to stop at 5000m, so you are still at full speed when you cut through the tape and the stop watch stops!!<br />
    <br />
    a meander up the river row toady.  Twenty minutes, covering 5270 metres.

    under 85s Dons, I don't think so - my bones alone weigh more than that...<br />
    <br />
    ANyway, Sunday, rowed for an hour, and my bum muscles don't like me anymore.  15733m.  A new PB, but as I have only rowed that time before, a cheap one!!

    You've already lost a fair bit though haven't you? Halfway there!  😁<br />
    <br />
    One of the guys this year was allegedly in triple figures at New Years and made it down by April... funnily enough he plays in the front row  :happy:

    evening 4 x 500m rows.  first two just warmups, in 1:58 and 1:54.  Next two were 500m PB attempts, but both ran out of gas after 250m at 1:28 and 1:26 rate (with different settings).  Then just finished the rows easing home in 1:48 and 1:43.  Amazing how quick the wheels fall off when you haven't been doing much 'pace rowing'!!<br />
    <br />
    Must work on this, my old PB for this distance from a few years back 1:28, so a target to hit...<br />
    [/quote]<br />
    Have you had another crack at 500m yet? <br />
    <br />
    I just managed to do a 1:39.5<br />
    <br />
    Given how much faster on all the other distances you are, I guess you should be able to do a low 1:30 without too much effort? But feel free to give up and concede I am better <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' />

    my PB from a few years ago is 1:28.6.<br />
    <br />
    haven't given it another nudge - should do so, and actually finish it, even when the wheels fall off at the end!!  Might do it on the erg at the gym though, as that seems to give me more return for my pull  <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' />

    Yeah I was conveniently overlooking your PB.. anyway shouldn't it be on season results? 😁<br />
    <br />
    I was just enjoying having a better time than you on a distance. I suspect that might be very sort lived considering I can't even hit a 1:28 split let alone hold it.
