I don't know if Northland supporters are aware, or care, but there's a Northland women's team that joins the Farah Palmer Cup competition for the first time, this year. If nobody is interested, you can just let this thread die; I'm only drawing your attention to it, just in case.

The Northland team may be new to the FPC, they have plenty of talent, including Black Ferns hooker Te Kura Ngata-Aerengamate and former Black Fern and Counties Manukau Heat playmaker Victoria Subritzky-Nafatali.

Here's more info about the team:

The Northland women play their first game, today, against the Hawke's Bay Tui (in Napier).

From the Northland Women's Rugby Facebook page:

Today's the day Northland made their debut in the Farah Palmer Cup!!

We went down 64-31 but the result wasnt the important thing today...having a team on the field representing Northland...that's what was important!!

Big Barrel Hawkes Bay Tui 64
Northland Kauri 31 (Savannah Bodman 3, Harono Te Iringa, Krystal Murray tries. Krystal Murray 3 cons)

@Stargazer thanks. Have been following this and hoping to catch the highlights. Great to see the Women in the Farah Palmer Cup. Hopefully they can show up the men before the season is over.

@kev Their best chance to win a game will be against Taranaki; or maybe Ta$man. First year is always difficult, so no pressure on the team.

@Stargazer yeah I think expectations will be to get some systems going and set a platform for the future. But they have some players with experience so we will wait and see...

@kev Unfortunately, this game wasn't televised (or streamed), so there probably won't be a highlights video. The guy who often makes highlights videos of local HB games, may have made one, but there was a development game at the same time, so he may have filmed that game instead. I'll keep an eye on it.

Well done to the women! Takes a bunch of sheilas to show the dudes how to play code. At least they’re flying our flag with pride.

Saw the second half of this match and there was some willing stuff. Our girls look very physical, and with more experience at this level they could go a long way.

So pleased for the team. Playing HB in the semi's so interesting to see if they have improved since the start of the season and can give them a scare.

Oh, how the mighty Kauri have grown

Oh, how the mighty Kauri have grown

After finally breaking into the sunlight, Northland Kauri faced being axed from this year's Farah Palmer Cup. But if anything, that's only made them stronger.

@Stargazer I misread that as Farah Palmer playing for Northland, and I was thinking that's a good effort as she's in her mid to late 40s.
