@Stargazer sure but a penalty try would have them with a better chance.

Why would it have been a penalty try? Are you referring to the Tupaea break?

@Stargazer less of a sore loser thing and more of a fuck the ref thing

Sounds like Cray Cray to me... The ref has been fine. Waikato got beaten is all.

Decent game to kickoff a big day of rugby.

Waikato will be disappointed to not get at least a bonus point out of this game.

Aight sure I'm pissed off. With the penalty try thing, isn't the rule that if there is a penalty infringement in a try scoring situation then they take the defender out of the situation. If not a penalty try, a penalty kick at least meaning would have been under 7 points and have a better chance at winning.

@Yeetyaah there were two tacklers. He got tackled by one and was going down which was what led to the second tackler coming in high, debatable whether he even made contact though.

I reckon if you get that penalty then Ta$man win by more.

    Duane Monkley medal:

    Taufua 3 points
    Jordan 2 points
    Sweeney 1 point

Personally, I'd given at least a point to Tupaea, maybe even 2.

Ta$man a lot better in the second half with the wind, but another week where they've not been as good as in the early season. Mitch Hunt and Shannon Frizell both significant losses. Think we'll need Mitch back next week!

Taufua, Blackadder and Jordan impressive among the starters for Ta$man, but the bench guys really made a difference - Crockett, Sione Havili and Finlay Christie.

Quin Tupaea very impressive for Waikato.

@Stargazer Those marks reasonably fair, but there's a bit of a 100th game gift in Sweeney getting points ahead of Tupaea.

Freddie's message this week is one for Waikato to take with them down to Otago....

So don't become some background noise
A backdrop for the girls and boys
Who just don't know or just don't care
And just complain when you're not there.

A great day for running rugby so a bloody disappointing result as Waikato should have got something out of this game. We paid the price for having so little possession and territory in the 2nd half. The defence was much better than in the last 2 games and the scrum held up well except for one time, so some improvement there.
