Good to see CNN focussing on the important issues like finding out whether Ben Carson was actually as mean a kid as he claimed he was. Ffs. Obama used a bloody composite girlfriend in his autobiography and nobody gave a shit.

Carson's a nutjob and a lot of the incredibly stupid shit he's said over the years (the pyramids were used to store grain, guys!) has really seemed to fly under the radar, so it's not much of a surprise he's coming under extra scrutiny now that he's somehow managed to hit the lead in the Republican Wacky Races.
-

Yes its vitally important to know if he was actually a nice kid and of course his views on the pyramids. Much more important than a secretary of state illegally using an email server or what went down in Bengazi. -

Wow, Fox News fan, huh? A couple of things:

1. The rules about external email servers came in AFTER Clinton's term, when Kerry started. She did nothing illegal. Nor did Colin Powell, by the way, who did the exact same thing during his term as Secretary of State (though weirdly enough, there's no controversy over that).

2. Benghazi?! You mean the controversy the Republicans publicly admitted was entirely politically based, wasting millions of US tax payers money to run a Hillary smear campaign? That Benghazi? The thing they just had a hearing on where they had NOTHING, was widely mocked and helped give Clinton a boost in the polls? Yeah, okay.

But no, it's totally irrelevant that Carson may have lied about attacking his mum with a hammer and stabbing a relative (why you'd lie about that, I have no idea) and has already admitted lying about being accepted into a military academy. Stop scrutinising him, guys! Bengazi! Emails!

And hey, why stop at the pyramid quote, here's some more wise words of wisdom from Republican front runner Ben Carson:

Obamacare is really, I think, the worst thing to happen to the nation since slavery, And it is slavery, in a way.

I think the likelihood of Hitler being able to accomplish his goals would have been greatly diminished if the people had been armed. I'm telling you there is a reason these dictatorial people take the guns first.

I have had a gun held on me when I was in a Popeye’s. A guy comes in, put the gun in my ribs. And I just said, ‘I believe that you want the guy behind the counter.’

There's only two paragraphs in there about George Washington ... little or nothing about Martin Luther King, a whole section on slavery and how evil we are, a whole section on Japanese internment camps and how we slaughtered millions of Japanese with our bombs. I think most people when they finish that course, they'd be ready to go sign up for ISIS ... We have got to stop this silliness crucifying ourselves.

A lot of people who go into prison straight and when they come out they’re gay

But it is true that we are probably giving way too many [vaccines] in too short a period of time.
Pretend what happened, exactly? Do you even know? That you think her email server was illegal tells me you don't but if you've got a reputable source saying otherwise, I'd love to read it. Everything I've read has made it pretty obvious they're witch hunts and nothing more. They know they've got no chance against her in a fair fight, not while they're still towing the same far right shit from 2012 that successfully alienated minorities, women and the young.

I'm not the biggest Clinton fan, she's too hawkish for my liking and is a pretty typical politician, but she's the only reasonable option of the current lineup (Sanders and O'Malley have no chance, the Republicans are all far right nutters who have no interests in minority or women's rights) and she would continue down the same course as the Obama administration. The most important part is that she'll appoint reasonable Supreme Court judges, who'll hopefully revert some of the more fucked up systemic things in the US ("corporations are people" and so on).
-

Really?
It was obviously a mistake to set up a private email server and she's admitted as much but there's nothing illegal there and if there were, I'm betting you'd have a better source than a fucking eight month old article from way back when the allegations were first being made and the Republicans were hoping to find a scandal. Then the emails were released, they went through them all and they found absolutely nothing.

If I were to "rage" about it, I'd bring up the fact that Jeb Bush (and a number of other Republican candidates) did the exact same fucking thing:

Worse, the emails Jeb Bush did release included personal information on thousands of Floridians (some of which included social security numbers):

http://www.theverge.com/2015/2/10/8013531/jeb-bush-florida-email-dump-privacy

But I didn't because... (drumroll please) No-one gives a shit about any of these "scandals." Hillary isn't going to prison like the Republicans were hoping, she's still going to win the election by a comfortable margin and Republicans will continue to act like babies just like they have for the last eight years.

Just because someone is part of a minority, that doesn't mean they campaign for them, especially when they're pandering to a far right, almost entirely white base. Cruz and Rubio are Cuban, a completely different demographic than the vast majority of Latino Americans. Carson has spoken out against Black Lives Matter and hasn't provided a single policy to address the issues. Fiorina has campaigned against Planned Parenthood, a pro-women organisation.
Ah, of course, because if a story has legs for more than 8 months, it's an important story. Just like Obama's birth certificate, right?

Upset? No, just annoyed at your Winger-like arguments. Who cares about facts when you've got things like "a story has legs for 8 months, it MUST be true!"

Oh fuck off, they're obviously minorities but that doesn't mean they support the rights of a completely different group of minorities nor does it even mean they support the rights of their own minority group. Shocking news: Brown people aren't all exactly the same. Regardless, the fact is that if you look at Rubio and Cruz positions, they both have been opponents of immigration reform, so yeah, I'd say they don't care about minority rights in comparison to the democrats.

Carson's foundation? You mean his Scholars Fund? What do they have to do with minorities? They don't specialise on helping minorities, so for all we know they could be awarding 99% of those to white kids. And what "other endeavours" are you talking about? Seems like you're clutching at straws to me.

It's an exaggeration because there's a lot wrong with that country but I'd definitely give most of the responsibility for moving the US so far right to him. You bring up the two two term democratic presidents but the entire reason why Clinton called himself a "New Democrat" was because they had to realign the Democratic party to the right to compete in a post-Reagan political environment. Obama was a bit of a change and has tried to improve things but it's slow going with a House and Senate who are more interested in sabotaging him than running the country. I think things will improve eventually but it's just going to take a while.

You might want to broaden your political reading beyond sites that a. don't know the difference between a FBI investigation and a FBI review (which FYI, was requested by the State department, who were arguing that they weren't classified) and b. That the emails were sent TO Hillary, so even if they were classified, she wouldn't have been at fault for them. Regardless, the last we heard on that story was that it was nothing:
