Movie review thread...

Well this thread has gone slightly off topic.
Hmm, so I watched The Irishman and I liked it. I also felt the same as some critics out there in that after a few scenes I mostly forgot about the de-aging. At least until I got to the scene where they made the dude from The Wire an old man ... that was just strange.
It was probably too long, but I thought the performances were pretty good, although they should have used a younger body for De Niro, especially in the stomping scene everyone is rightfully taking the piss out of. Pesci and Pacino were great and De Niro was good despite having the worst of the de-aging effects.
A much better movie than Silence (bonus points for not having Andrew Garfield in it) of Scorcese's recent output.

Andrew Garfield irritates me but not as much as Eddie Redmayne who has an immensely punchable face imho .

Personally, Garfield is worse for me, at least Redmayne usually plays weird dudes which kind of suits his face ... Hollywood seems to think Garfield is a leading man.

Can’t say I’ve seen Garfield in anything since Spider-Man. Redmayne is high on my list of effete stuttering twats who annoy me immensely right behind Hugh Grant .

Joe Versus the Volcano.
Slow and terrible. If you haven't seen it, don't.

There were worse movies in 1990 but not many. Ghost Dad, Dances with Wolves...

Escape Room on Netflix
I really like puzzle solving movies like this and Cube. This doesn't disappoint, the set design is very good, the acting is on point. The puzzles leave a little to be desired, but that's part of the genre.
Looks like they'll be making a sequel.

The only other movie that I've seen him in was Hacksaw Ridge. He was pretty good in that and worthy of the oscar nomination.
I couldn't stand that performance from him, I initially thought the mouth thing he was doing was just to 100% match the real life guy, but then he did something similar in Silence too. I think it was one of those overacting performances than win awards so agree he probably should have been nominated.
21 Bridges: Decent by the numbers action thriller starring Black Panther and Sienna Miller without make up. It's funny how a hot actress gets taken a bit more seriously when they get a bit older and start to lose some of their hotness.

@Nepia she wasn't even recognisable in the Roger Ailes mini-series.
Is that the Crowe one? Is it any good.
@Bovidae I'm torn, on the one hand there's my no watching trailers rule, on the other:
It looks pretty awesome. That version of blue Monday is cool too .
