I think so, yeah.
-

sweet! It works pretty well once you get the hang of it. Crazy the sorts of gear they have these days.

2015 has not been fun for me. At the beginning of July I started feeling unwell again, so scaled back the exercise to reduce exertion and stress (took a holiday as well). Reduced exercise to hour walks, really low intensity.Unfortunately, that didn't go well either and I ended up back in hospital a few times getting checked out. Still no clear diagnosis, and it's obviously related to my earlier heart issues, but lots of serious things ruled out. So in a holding pattern of getting tested for stuff.

Has murdered my fitness, and because I like to comfort eat I've now ballooned back out to 86kg - pretty much were I started in 2010/11.

Obviously have to get my health right first, but jesus that's frustrating. Missing working out too.

Moan over :)

Apparently I might be able to try recumbent exercise (like rowing and cycling), so will give that a whirl. And obviously time to take care of the diet.

Definitely a goal to get back to crossfit too.
-

fuck that is intense bro. Glad to hear you are ruling things out and I hope they work it out soon.

I've had a lot of yoyo fitness experience mate, feel for you as you'd busted your ass and had been doing great. Cool to hear there are some exercise options that you can check out. Long term getting back in the box would be a primo thing to achieve!! Go hard mate and keep us posted.
-
So I rounded of 2015 finally getting a diagnosis, which allowed them to experiment with some medication to alleviate the symptoms.

That worked pretty well, with the exception of some of the worst headaches I've ever experienced (lasting up to four days, and sometimes requiring morphine to ease the pain). Fun times!

Got some medication for that too (I rattle when I walk) and for the first time since July last year I felt "well".

Part of my treatment requires regular exercise, so have started Pilates, and have eased back into jogging.

To give you and idea of where my fitness got to, I couldn't run even 1km without having to stop.

The weight maxed out at 88.1kg, a new record for meHave managed to get some of that meat blanket off and am currently 84.6. First goal is 83kg.

Have got the runs up to 5kms, but they are sloooow, with lots of breaks. Have to build up the endurance slowly.

Another big factor for me now is hydration, minimum has to be 2litres, more when I exercise. Bizarrely, I also need more salt in my diet.

I've been feeling so good that I've penciled in Crossfit for February. A new gym is opening a couple hundred metres from my house, I took it as a sign.

Here's to a better 2016 and not taking my health for granted.

Have enjoyed reading your guys threads in the interim, even if I've not felt like commenting. -

Jogging is improving slowly. Managed 6km last night, first 3km (the gentle incline uphill part) was without breaks. So stopped three times in total, will aim to drop one of those next time. 5km time was just under 32mins (told ya it was slow), so next aim for that is get back under 30mins.

That's just to keep me interested though, the real aim is to get some endurance back and that is returning. Also, am recovering well after the runs with no headaches/other symptoms.

Going to throw a row in somewhere this week to let me knees recover a bit, first 100m is not great then they warm up :)
-
Weight down to 84kg, so 4kg lost, and 1kg to go for the first goal.

Friday's run went well, so close to only one stoppage and getting under 30mins, but the last hill clobbered mestill dropped one of the stops out like I wanted.

Still no after effects, so if that continues for another week, I'll ramp back up to the gym stuff. -

Got the run down to under 30mins (just...) and one stop at the halfway point. Will start moving that stop until I phase it out. Endurance still isn't great, but it's definitely getting easier.

Very close to the weight goal, down to 83.3kg. So hope to lose that over the next week, going out to dinner tonight, so that might delay things :)

Still feel great, so just a case of keep on trucking. If this week of exercise goes well, I'll sign up for the gym.
-

Good to hear you are taking a measured approach bro. I absolutely die when it's hot/humid and I'm working out. Smash that water and keep trucking!!

-
Yeah, slowly slowly catchee monkey.

Water is going good, i normally struggle to drink 2litres without feeling bloated, but that's pushed out to 2.5 with the odd 3ltr day.

Attack is probably the wrong word too, I have very mild symptoms now.

Next run is probably going to be tomorrow, hopefully that will go better. Will ignore the time goals for a few. -

Meh, same thing happened. Went out for a run not worrying about the pace, and was only ten seconds slower and only one stop at 3kms.

Have woken up not feeling great again, so have ruled out any increase in intensity for Feb so no gym. Weight is 83.5 (that awesome dinner packed on a 1kg!) so that's still fine.

It's a bummer, but as my wife pointed out it's a shitload better than what I was doing last month.
-
First goal met, under 83kg. I think that's the first time since March.

Celebrated with a Coke Zero :)

Next goal is under 80kg, 2.8kg to go.

Running is now 2x5km runs per week, in a stage of not recovering well from them, but ain't going to stop.

Like running in a sauna at the moment, started listening to podcasts instead of music, works great as I completely zone out. -
Ouch, go to reply on this thread and the new software asks me if I want to start a new thread in stead as this one's quite old...
Anyway, have been in pause mode since I last posted due to illness. Ballooned up to an impressive 90kg, which I'm now able to chip away at - currently around 89kg.
So long trip back down, but able to get through the 5kms, which is a good start. Back on a better diet now too. Have managed two runs this week with just normal side effects (sore legs, etc!). Off for the third shortly.
First one back was an incredibly slow time, pretty much ten minutes slower than normal.
Fun times.

Thanks, feels good to be back exercising. Third run done and dusted, no endurance to speak of but getting longer running bits.
Small goals to start, main thing is to get a month of regular exercise in.
