@Rembrandt yep - from the same site https://www.covid19data.com.au/ they have a state breakdown
Of course this is identified cases, which relies on testing being robust. Could be more out there lurking a/symptomatic

@NTA said in Coronavirus - Australia:
Growth yesterday was 107 cases. That is the lowest since 18th March, where we crossed 500 cases.
1.8% growth.
Some thought c/o Norman Swan on ABC Breakfast this morning that the slow down is largely due to lack of new imported cases, and community transmission is bubbling under.
Joy germ

Why would anyone listen to him? He's got as much credibility on this topic as Dr Oz.

And look, there is a possibility of that but another week of sub-5% and a lot of the discussion I've seen posted elsewhere says end of the month needs a rethink in terms of restrictions.

Chief Minister of the ACT saying they won't be putting in place a "dob in your neighbour" landline but will have a development to let concerns be raised to authorities...

Hunt repeating the 6 month mantra again tonight. Zero chance. People are already relaxing

As at 3pm today there were 5,908 cases in Australia. 45 deaths, 93 people currently in ICU and 305 currently in hospital. 310,700 tests conducted with a positive result of 1.9%
So a total increase of 113 cases, six more deaths, three less people in ICU and 103 less people in hospital.

1.9% success rate on testing? Wow, are they just testing anybody?

A strong testing regime helps identify the virulence in the community. It also assists in determining whether there's a considerable amount of unknown cases that will rapidly overwhelm our health care system.
Despite this and the government's admission that our modelling has all been dependent on international data, that we've seen a far greater decline in case load than the models predicted, they're still not going to look at reducing this ridiculous impingement on free movement. Because the models predict an explosive resurgence of cases - those same models that got it wrong here.
The PM is still calling for a six month timeframe. There's no way Australians will put up with that. Or at least I fervently hope not.
-
no new cases in Cairns for 3 days. Does that mean i am 11 days from being able to go to the pub?
-
A clear shift in language today in NSW - now restrictions will be reviewed 'on a month by month basis' rather than being locked in until the end of June. That would appear to be sensible if nothing else.
Another drop today, just 47 new cases here. So for now the worst is clearly behind us.

i think a really important stat that keeps getting overlooked is that, of that 5,900 cases, approx 45% have already recovered. Active cases are a little over 3,000

And less than 10% of them through community transmission.
"We have so far avoided the many thousands, if not tens of thousands, of cases that may have otherwise occurred by this point across the Australian community — and indeed the many more fatalities that could also have occurred by this point," he said. "The daily growth rate in cases has now fallen to just a few percentage points per day. This has occurred quite rapidly. "In fact, it has occurred well beyond our expectations. "But we must hold the course. We must lock in these gains. It is providing us with much-needed time."
Time for what?
