The Qld Teashers Union does not want kids back at school for the whole term
The state is still locked down
What the fuck is going on here?
Well my kids will be going after week 5, home schooling (Prep and Y3), and trying to work from home does not bloody work. It hasn’t helped all the IT systems have been busted either.
this week has been a shitfight. No one is achieving.
I'm trying to send mine to school a couple of days a week as soon as i can

Home schooling has been better today and yesterday as the other half only works Mon-Wed so she carried the load the past two days, but still not that bloody great.
The teachers have been good, but all the content they prepared over the holidays for distribution via the schools One Note system couldn't be uploaded, so it all needed to be altered and then sent via email. As you say, getting them into school for a couple of days at least would be ideal.

Restrictions easing in WA and Queensland.
Biggest change in WA is you can now gather in groups of 10, while in Queensland it's not as loose but you can go for a picnic with your family, do non-essential shopping and go out on your boat.
Loosening the outdoor restrictions makes sense to me. Seems to be no reason why you shouldn't be able to go for a picnic with your family, provided you stay 1.5m from anyone else.
It also helps NSW and Victoria, because they will be watching both states closely before they do anything to change their rules.

There are hiking trails in the Blue Mountains where you won't see anyone else for days.
Local campsite owned by a member of our rugby club by contrast has their gate is locked with helicopter flyovers regularly. They cop an $11k fine if busted.

@NTA Josh Addo-Carr's response:
“Just touching on what we spoke about! Mate it was cultural gathering. Learning about our land and our culture, learning how to hunt live off the land, thank you take care.”
I.e. Your criticism is racist.

Fucking idiots, although (and not this is not excusing those idiots), Sydney is increasingly not giving a fuck about social distancing, as the beach debacle highlights, and I gave up on my usual update this week on how the social distancing and limits is going because - it almost felt like there was none as I saw numerous large groups in Darling Harbour congregating (non-smokers and the usual smokers), so many groups of teenagers biking together, groups of late middle aged couples biking or walking together etc, clear two family groups out in the park together, the supermarket was nearly as busy as a normal Sunday despite the door man with the clicker, and I decided to get some Clems chicken on Saturday night and Newtown was way busier than I expected.

And yet cases keep falling, just two in NSW yesterday. So even if people are more relaxed, it hasn't come through in the figures yet.
Some of the moral outrage about beachgoers is a bit much for me. Trapped inside for a month, a beautiful sunny Saturday, can you blame people for wanting to go for a walk on the beach and a swim?
It's not their fault that a thousand other people had the same idea.

Nah, fuck that, NO ONE in Sydney has been trapped inside for a month, and they were clearly opened for a specific purpose and those idiots just took the piss ruining it for everybody.
And yep, I hope the cases keep falling even with the mish mash of social distancing going on ... I'd rather an I-told-you-so from you than for things to go pear shaped like it has in other countries.

I'd suggest people have been kept indoors for far longer than they normally are, especially those with children.
And by my read of the coverage, it seems a lot of it came back to your definition of 'exercise'. Complaints of people 'just having a splash', negating the fact that for kids and others that does constitute exercise. Just because I'm not running a fucking triathlon doesn't mean I can't have a swim.
If it was a horde of pissed up bogans with picnic rugs and BBQs I'd agree with your viewpoint, but it seems to me the main problem is there were just too many people for a small beach like Coogee.

Seriously? People haven't been really kept indoors "far longer" than normal, I don't know anyone, including people with kids, who have been kept indoors. TBH, I spent more time 'trapped' inside during the bushfires than now.
I have friends who went down for a swim on Friday at Gordons Bay, they text our group chat straight away basically saying that the beaches will close because people are taking the piss ... not just having a 'splash'. There were lots, like them, doing it responsibly, but enough acted like idiots to make it an issue.

I, for one, am glad I have teenagers who don't need me to keep them mentally stimulated for hours on end like little bastards.
I would like to see something like QLD has in terms of winding back restrictions. I could chance just going for a drive, but would feel like a bit of a fluffybunny doing it when so many others are patient enough to ride it out.
The boy also has a swag now, so we're ready for some father/son camping hijinx

WA government moved yesterday and are allowing groups of 10 inside and outside.
@barbarian on the numbers, the testing rates are fluctuating a bit. I know there is a bit of concern about that from the CMO.

What in the fuck are you talking about? Every time I venture outside the shopping centres are deserted because the shops aren't open. There's fuck all traffic. Where do you think these people are hiding?
Small wonder once they could go outside to enjoy themselves at the beach they took the opportunity. And your friends are "but they didn't do enough laps"?

What are you talking about? Where did I say that all the shopping centres are open? But the fact of the matter is, as you highlight by saying "every time I venture out", that Sydney hasn't been on complete lockdown. It's not the prison camp you like to make it out to be.
I want the beaches open too, but there's enough retards out there that have ruined it for everyone. And my friends didn't say anything about laps, they just saw all the people hanging out in groups on the rocks and on the beach and figured that the authorities would notice it. And they're pissed off because they actually just want to go swimming.

Sounds like an argument of your invention. I never said Sydney was on complete lockdown. But where do you think people have been hiding? Movie cinemas? Cafes? Nightclubs?
I want the beaches open too, but there's enough retards out there that have ruined it for everyone. The sooner all of us just insist on going about life as much as normal the better. Despite all the hysteria, there hasn't been a cluster traced back to people using beaches, where people tend to socially distance themselves from strangers anyway.
83% of confirmed cases in this country have recovered. Prof Murphy last Friday talking about the effective reproductive number in Australia:
You can see that, again, with various few cases in some states, you've got a very larger margin. But the middle of the blue line, of the dark blue line, in all cases except Tassie, where it's just over one, is still below one.
Their modelling excludes NT and ACT because in his words 'their case numbers are so low that there's no statistical purpose in showing them'.
