@OleOleOle Yeah, he was involved with Marist previously. Good to keep him around.

I just saw some kids at the stadium wearing a bright pink and black Chiefs jersey. Here's hoping that's not it.

JK it is the jersey. I'd put a photo up but the fern doesn't allow the image coz it's too big. It's a women in rugby jersey.

    Great news about Laulala.
It’s only a matter of time before the patched up front row runs out of steam

I'd be very surprised if Laulala is on the plane to SA. I spoke to him briefly outside the stadium and he still has a noticeable limp when walking so I doubt he could play next weekend.

@mariner4life Journos have to do something during this time.

I am happier about the news on Laulala and Jacobson.

Other Chiefs players high in Bronco testing included rookie first five-eighth Kaleb Trask, winger Sean Wainui, flanker Lachaln Boshier, and All Blacks duo Brad Weber and Luke Jacobson.

For Jacobson, the Covid-19-enforced break was somewhat of a silver lining, giving the talented back-rower extra time to rest up his troubled hamstring. After a long layoff with concussion that forced him to withdraw from the World Cup, the 23-year-old then lasted just 10 minutes in his comeback match against the Brumbies on February 22, before missing two further games ahead of the competition's halt.

Along with Jacobson, Matson confirmed All Blacks prop Nepo Laulala - who was on the verge of returning from a round-one knee injury just as the competition stopped - would also be in line for the June 13 start date for Super Rugby Aotearoa.

However, the Chiefs aren't counting on having fellow ABs frontrower Angus Ta'avao available for the 10-week competition, after he injured a quadricep in round one, was perhaps going to be out until around this time, but then underwent surgery soon before lockdown.

One player who has been welcomed back into the ranks is outside back Etene Nanai-Seturo, who had previously committed to the New Zealand Sevens team's Olympics preparation.

"We had a bit of a spread, guys have been doing things differently [training during lockdown].

Matson says the same thing in that article as what other coaches have said (I think Robertson said something similar on the Breakdown?). Players have come back from lockdown in different shape. Some have mostly been running because they hardly had any gym equipment; others have mostly done weights, because that was about all they could do (not living near a park to go for a run, for example).

I'm also curious if injured players had access to the team physio during the lockdown so they could rehab.

Were routine medical appointments allowed over there in your lock down?

The general public could still see a doctor (with strict conditions attached) during L4 and L3 but physios and S & C are not in the same category. Maybe they gave instructions remotely but that isn't the same, especially for a pro athlete.

I did see some skills coaching going on by video during L4/L3. Not ideal, but better than nothing!
