She's still very good but can't overtake Margaret Court and looking less likely each GS

    Yes, but:

"as competitive at such an advanced stage of their career?"

was the comment and I would say is competitive still - just.

No, won't catch Margaret court but LeBron is unlikely to get to 6 titles like MJ either.

Fair enough. He is still the best player in the world in a team game though, which is extraordinary

@canefan Yes it is, and had he been in different teams, at different times he might have ended up with 6 titles too. 4 Teams? Cavs, Heat, Cavs, Lakers - I think.

I'm still guessing that Serena must be the female referenced though?

Yes, Serena. Who turned 39 just a couple of days ago. Four grand slam finals appearances in 2018 and 2019 after winning her most recent title in 2017 at 35, recently a beaten semi-finalist at the US Open, and she won a WTA tourney as recently as Auckland in January. Prize money for 2020 is USD1m. She's still highly competitive, but not dominant. LeBron is still dominant, but he's 35.

@shark If you're going with Serena, you've got to include Roger in the group as well.

He's a month older than Serena and has won three Grand Slam titles since she last did!

I don't think he does. He's no longer dominant, probably not even top 5 QBs in the NFL now

Yes my boys the Heat through to the Finals against the Lakers even if we go down I’m the Finals I’m very happy I didn’t think we would get past the Bucks but to make it to the big dance, very impressive.

An amazing achievement and they will be a threat in the finals. Can't see them winning though, not if Lebron is fit

I can see the Heat winning. A lot is riding on the Lakers supporting cast. So far they've had good contributions out of Rondo, Kuzma, KCP and even Dwight Howard. None have been consistent performers but all have had moments where they have chipped in 10-15 points at crucial times.

If that falls away in the face of the Heat's superior defence and hustle, then it could come down to Lebron and Davis trying to carry the team themselves. Meanwhile Herro and Bam are in great form, Butler is a great general and a few other guys have stepped up too.

I think the Lakers will win, but a Heat win wouldn't be the upset of the century.

@barbarian the bubble has been strange, a heat win would be a suitably strange finish

LA have AD and LBJ, in the NBA generally the team with the best stars wins and they have the two best. But they will need contributions from the supporting cast. I predict Dwight will have a big role to play fronting up against Bam Bam

You have got to give plenty of credit to Erik Spoelstra and way he has gotten the misfits from Miami to the final. This hopefully will be a good series.

Yeah you're probably right, if it's all about how good he is right now. But he was the best still at 39.

    Riley and Jimmy B too

    And Bam and Iggy.

Bam dominated game 6 and showed some ticket after a stink game 5. He was defending, rebounding, bringing the ball down, scoring, setting up team mates.

Iggy’s IQ came to the fore in this series. You can see the little stuff he does on both ends that were a feature of the Warriors success.
